Boiled for 20 hours to create an umami flavour. Umami is the fifth basic taste next to sweet, sour, salty and bitter. By doing so we have now a beer that’s very thick and oily with loads of roasted malts.

Barrelbelly (750) - BELGIUM - SEP 30, 2010
Dark brown/black colour. Almost no head. Strong smoked aroma. Taste is smoked and a bit watery. The taste of wood and cognac can also be distinguished.

lassem (652) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUN 9, 2010
Small bottle from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. The pour is as black as it gets with a thick very brown head that tends to fade but gets more and more creamy to the point when it settles an inch high. The nose is roasted with notes of burned malts, hazel nuts and a potpouri of bitter aromas. There are some notes of lacorice and leather and a hint of vanilla and wood. The mouthfeel is huge with a creamy palate. The taste starts of with quite some bitterness that tends to change caracter as the taste developes on its journey theough your mouth and down your throat. A mild bourning feeling on the lipps from the alcohol. There are some roasted coffee, english lacorice and some burned pieces of wood and finally a touch of alcohol. Its a good imperial stout with a great masculin attitude.

Sampled at Copenhagen Beerfestival 2010. Black with a brown head. Light smoky aroma of grilled hot dogs and ash. Some fruitiness as well. Interesting, different and good.

Bottle. Almost pitch black, faint reddish hue, almost no head. Aroma is very thick, no alcohol, faint roast, sweet liquorice, milk chocolate, faint oak notes, if I’m not mistaken. Also some vanilla and some dried fruits and spices. Very delicious. Taste is extremely bitter with a very dry liquorice finish, lasting quite long. The initial sugary oak sweetness is quickly dampened by the harsh finish. Strong but not boozy at all.

Tap @ BBF 2010. Wow. Absolutely blown away. Thick black pour with a small, soapy beige head. Very nice strong aroma. Couldn’t stop sniffing it. A lot of chocolate, coffee, dark chocolate with dominant salt liquorice ’’zoute drop’’. Very full body with the zoute drop again, dark fruits, chocolate and some roasted hints. Some alcohol in the taste. This beer is close to perfection. Sticky. So thick black that the lacing on the glass turned brown/black. Extreme long aftertaste which had a great mouthfeel and some roasted hints again. This is black heaven. My favorite brewery with my favorite beer (till now).

Bottle, 180 ml. Pitch black, small dense head, oily, sticky texture. Aroma of leather, smoked sausage, coffee, dark malts. Taste is great with a subtle smokiness, bitter coffee, dried fruit. A great tasting beer.

Woow! I had this on tap. It gave me a shiver when I drought the first swallow! Chocolate taste and a little bit toasty in the finish. Medium carbonation, with low persistent froth. The alcohol is very noticeable. So good.

On tap at the molen and in bottle. Color is dark black, with small brown head. Smell: Chocolate, dark fruits, soy sauce some hints of coffee and roasted malts Taste: quite complex, spicy, sweet chocolate and dark fruits, and in the aftertaste a great, extremely well balanced salty soy taste. Alcohol is very well hidden. Mouthfeel is very thick and creamy. The best beer from the Molen! Only stormaktsporter can beat this one
