COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boiled for 20 hours to create an umami flavour. Umami is the fifth basic taste next to sweet, sour, salty and bitter. By doing so we have now a beer that’s very thick and oily with loads of roasted malts.

Tap @ De Molen. Almost black and opague. Maple syrup, smoke, tobacco, honey, licorice and coffee in the complex aroma. Sweet flavor with honeyish notes, ash and maple syrup. Lots of dried fruit. Licorice and smoky notes. Burning alcohol. Long aftertaste with grapes and smoky and roasty notes. Complex, more than excellent beer.

About 50ml from tap. Nice fawn-coloured head atop of a devil-black body. Semi-sweet aroma of roasted, dark chocolate malts and dark fruits sustained by a touch of alcohol. Earthy malts and anise in a rich flavour which also offers dried fruits, slightly roasted. Lasting finish of bittersweet chocolate and an integrated alcoholic tingle. Tasty sample and I’m really looking forward to a whole bottle of this wonderful brew (Copenhagen Beer Festival, 08.05.2010).

Pours utterly black with a small, creamy, beige head. Light smokey aroma, some peity notes, roasted and mildly vinious. Soft carbonation, lovely creamy and light grainy mouthfeel. Flavour has some fine coffee, light roasted malts, sweetness, vinious. Soft smokiness. Soft, elegant and delicious. Long, lingering, dry finish. Nice.

Bottle shared by Kan, thanks! Poured black with a grayish brown head that started at the edges and dissipated completely. Aroma had note of dark grain and chocolate with a good amount of peat and smoke backing. Flavor had even more peat and smoke with a bit of dark chocolate and roast coming through and a hint of backing toffee.
