Boiled for 20 hours to create an umami flavour. Umami is the fifth basic taste next to sweet, sour, salty and bitter. By doing so we have now a beer that’s very thick and oily with loads of roasted malts.

Black with dark brown ring of head. Aroma of ash, smoke, bitter chocolate and beef jerky. Flavor has some light smoke, charcoal, chocolate, campfire, tar. Very nice!

Abio (1869) - BERMUDA - SEP 24, 2010
Looking forward to taste this one. Tap at De Molen. Very small head, holds ok. But I want some more head. Pitch black with a beige head. Good smell, coffeee chocolate, nice sweetness and some wood. Also sourness comes up moderated. Taste is overwhelming the sourness mixed with coffee. Fruit-chocolate, a it bit dissappointed cause it seems a it to complex, but still a nice, maybe a bit overdone beer.

10/10 i mörkhet. Luktar syrligt, choklad. Smakar väldigt rökigt, lite jordgubbar och choklad. Lite choklad och besk eftersmak.

Tap at the White Horse, Parsons Green, London, Fonefan’s 50th / Masters Division shindig. Brilliant in every way. I fell in love with this beer, delicious. Pitch black, hardly no head. Roasted malt, port, sweet vanilla, alcohol, caramel. Taste is divine, slips down so easily, hides its strength well, malty, thick, vinous, spirit burn right at the end, coffee and a creamy taste. I’m absolutely blown away.

phredrik (1024) - Copenhagen (formerly Aalborg), DENMARK - MAY 31, 2011
Tap @ CBF. Aroma has leather, soy sauce, very intense, dark chocolate, a hint of vanilla, tar, cough syrup. Nice balance between intense roast and sweetness. Taste has soy sauce, leather, intense coffee, fark chocolate, hints of cherries, vanilla, caramel and toffey. This beer is so thick that you can cut it with a knife, insanely chewy.

Holy (837) - GERMANY - DEC 16, 2010
