2010-08-02. Black body with a creamy brown head. Super rich flavour, fruity alcoholic character, notes of bourbon or brand but ultra smooth. Holy $#!+! Notes of chocolate liqueur or Baileys like flavours, mocha, alcohol is seductive and dangerous. 9+ Aroma is similarly rich, tangy dark fruit, subtle dark malt base, some sort of barrel/alcohol presence, vanilla notes. RICH. 9+ Super smooth medium to full bodied palate. Sufficient alcohol to be a kick in the pants but kind of awesome. I was lamenting the generous pour from the bartender on the first one, and then went back for a second after tasting it. So good. Tap at the White Horse, Parsons Green, London, Fonefan’s 50th / Masters Division shindig. Brilliant in every way. I fell in love with this beer, delicious. Pitch black, hardly no head. Roasted malt, port, sweet vanilla, alcohol, caramel. Taste is divine, slips down so easily, hides its strength well, malty, thick, vinous, spirit burn right at the end, coffee and a creamy taste. I’m absolutely blown away. fewa (41) - Beersel, BELGIUM - FEB 26, 2011
On tap at the molen and in bottle. Color is dark black, with small brown head. Smell: Chocolate, dark fruits, soy sauce some hints of coffee and roasted malts
Taste: quite complex, spicy, sweet chocolate and dark fruits, and in the aftertaste a great, extremely well balanced salty soy taste. Alcohol is very well hidden. Mouthfeel is very thick and creamy.
The best beer from the Molen! Only stormaktsporter can beat this one

Black with dark brown edges. Ash, ashpalt, smoke, bitter chocolate, beef jerky. Flavor has some light smoke, charcoal, chocolate, campfire, tar. HELL YES. spkevin (440) - Doetinchem, NETHERLANDS - SEP 29, 2010
Tap @ BBF 2010. Wow. Absolutely blown away. Thick black pour with a small, soapy beige head. Very nice strong aroma. Couldn’t stop sniffing it. A lot of chocolate, coffee, dark chocolate with dominant salt liquorice ’’zoute drop’’. Very full body with the zoute drop again, dark fruits, chocolate and some roasted hints. Some alcohol in the taste. This beer is close to perfection. Sticky. So thick black that the lacing on the glass turned brown/black. Extreme long aftertaste which had a great mouthfeel and some roasted hints again. This is black heaven. My favorite brewery with my favorite beer (till now).

On draft at In de Wildeman. Opaque black, thick brown head. Aroma has a very strong malty backbone, coffee, chocolate, hint of blackcurrant. Very complex flavor, nutty, honey, hops, fruit, this is seriously complex. Extremely longlasting finish. For an Imperial Stout not very bitter, instead it’s rather at the sweet side, which is unconventional but works out very very well. May be the best Imperial Stout i know, absolutely outstanding. caesar (7165) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - MAY 26, 2010
Bottled & Tap @ Copenhagen 2010. Dark color, short head. Lovely chocolat aroma, coffee, big malty, umami? Big malty taste, great lingering palate. Thick body. Ober (2814) - Bommelerwaard, NETHERLANDS - JUN 12, 2010
Tap @ De Molen. Pitch black colored beer, with a thick foamy dark beige almost brown head. The aroma of coffee with vanilla, sal ammoniac with chocolate. The taste of coffee, sal ammoniac and vanilla. It starts a little sweet, moving to dry bitter. Alcohol notes in the back. The aftertaste is gentle sweet with coffee bitter and notes of vanilla. On tap at Jan’s Masters Division Celebration, 2nd August 2010. Near black with very little head. On the nose and in the mouth it is a wonderful blend of alcohol, oak, red wine, burnt caramel & Belgian yeast. The strength provides a firm but not fierce heat. Deserves to be savoured slowly. The pure expression of what an Imperial Stout should be. Labove (427) - Rome, ITALY - MAY 28, 2011
