Black color, dark brown head. Oaky sweet scent. Sweet, roasted, alcohol taste. Warming alcohol. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness.
Black with a lasting light brown head. Aroma of licorice, dark fruit, wine and oak. Dry and complex dark flavour, chocolate, licorice, coffee, fruit. PotjeBier (3456) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - OCT 27, 2010
On tap @ De Wildeman. Black color with dense brown head. Strong cognac aroma, with some chocolate, roast/coffee, wood (oak), vanilla, alcohol. Taste is somewhat sweet & alcoholic, cognac. Finishes with a good combination of bitter, roast, ash/peat & wood. A bit too cognac-y for me, but still a good big beer of course. madmitch76 (25009) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUL 5, 2010
8th May 2010. Copenhagen Beer Festival. Opaque black beer. Short lived chocolate coloured head. Rich dark malt - not that bitter. A fair amount of coffee but well balanced with some lactose sweetness. Smooth. Warming finish. Decent. harrisoni (18819) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - AUG 26, 2010
Happy 50th Birthday Fonefan!!. On tap at White Horse, Parsons Green. I have a feeling other people liked this more than me. I thought if anything it was just too big. Hot alcohol aroma. Lots of good choc, I mean thick Belgian choc. Maybe just a tad too intense and a too hot for me.

Tap @ 2nd BBF. Black colour, brown head. Aroma is chocolate, fruits and roasted malts. Flavour is roasted malts, heavy chocolate, fruits. Heavy and dense bodied. deyholla (11759) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 3, 2011
Bottle shared by Kan, thanks! Poured black with a grayish brown head that started at the edges and dissipated completely. Aroma had note of dark grain and chocolate with a good amount of peat and smoke backing. Flavor had even more peat and smoke with a bit of dark chocolate and roast coming through and a hint of backing toffee. Defreni (3255) - Husum, DENMARK - JUN 4, 2010
Abio (1868) - BERMUDA - SEP 24, 2010
Looking forward to taste this one. Tap at De Molen. Very small head, holds ok. But I want some more head. Pitch black with a beige head. Good smell, coffeee chocolate, nice sweetness and some wood. Also sourness comes up moderated. Taste is overwhelming the sourness mixed with coffee. Fruit-chocolate, a it bit dissappointed cause it seems a it to complex, but still a nice, maybe a bit overdone beer. hirigalzkar (3203) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - FEB 13, 2011
Bottle. A quite agressive imperial stout (dark chocolate, licorice etc.) with
lots of smoked, sausage kind of notes. The smokeiness is too heavy in my opinion and hides the other qualities of the beer.
