Cock Tavern. Keg. 8.4% Almost opaque dark brown beer, little pale cream coloured head. Palate is smooth with a little fine carbonation. Smooth dark malt with a little cream. No roast or bitterness. Floral candy sweet flavours with equal amounts of violets and strawberries. Just a whisper of citrus then the malt turns slightly bitter and do the hops. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Medium bitter linger with candy fruits and hop spicein the aftertaste. Really well joined up and interesting beer, Not sure I would have placed it as a Black IPA, comes over like a Black Saison. Hugely drinkable
My 100th De Molen rating! Bottle. Pretty much black color, brown head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of chocolate covered pine needles. Taste is roasty coffee grounds, dark bittersweet cocoa, bitter pine, grass finish. Good example of the style. cgarvieuk (24462) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 11, 2014

Bottle shared in London at the Josh Farewell tasting. Thanks to C-Dog for this CDA. Pours clear, cola brown with a creamy tan head. Toasty bread in the nose, some pine and herbs, suggestions of dusty cocoa. Light-medium sweet flavor with more toasty bread, ripe citrus, orange, milk chocolate. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly resinous on the finish, more nicely toasted bread, a bit of earthy bitterness, orange rind, faint alcohol. Nice one.
