COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rookop is a brown, top-fermented ale that is not sweet, with coffee in the flavour and a fine, mild bitterness. Rookop used to be brewed in the St-Joris brewery in Reningelst, Belgium until 1963 when the brewing activities stopped. The brewery was restored back to its original condition in 2012 and now functions as a meeting centre for families with children. We were asked to bring this famous beer back to life. Since the original recepy could not be recovered, a brand new beer was developed.

330ml bottle from Vanuxeem. Pours a deep hazy brown, small pale tan head. Aroma has caramel and nutty dark malts. Taste brings to mind a lightly sweet cassonade-tinged Belgian dubbel, with some caramel dunkel notes and a little soft cocoa. Not bad.

JaKeAFC (1290) - ITALY - AUG 24, 2017
Bottle in poperinge. Brown color big beige head. Aroma if caramel and roastwd malts with a decent hoppiness. Smooth as a dunkel, malty breadu with a chocolate edge. Very smooth, creamy texture. Simple dark belgian ale but quite nice.

Ysok02 (1865) - Mons, BELGIUM - JUN 2, 2017
Robe brune, fine mousse peu peristante.

ForlornHope (542) - Hampshire, ENGLAND - MAR 11, 2017
Bottle at home. Pours clear red-brown with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malt with some subtle earthy hop. Sweetish taste with a very gentle bitterness. Flavours of roasted malt, nut and chocolate with more earthy hop, almost like leaf-mulch. Sweet finish with just a hint of dryness. A nicely balanced, tasty beer.

Bottle from Miorge Mihoublon, Arlon, Belgium!

Pours very dark brown, nearly black, with a small off-white head. Aroma is strong yeasty, slight smoke in the background. Taste has lots of brown and dark malts, belgian yeast and some candy sugar. Sweet-roasty finish!

Hopverdju (1571) - BELGIUM - JAN 29, 2017
Geur: moutzoetig, licht geroosterd, licht hoppig. Smaak: licht zoet, bitter, wat fruitig. Medium koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: licht bitter. Een eenvoudig, maar lekker Belgisch bier!

blackisle (2849) - Amsterdam IJburg, NETHERLANDS - JAN 20, 2017
Bottle 33cl. from a local Odin supermarket, poured into a tulip glass. Clear amber brown, small frothy beige head, receding slowly, fair lacing; mild aroma, toasted malts, caramel, dark fruits, candy sugar; mild taste, medium sweet and bitter, malty, light toffee, brown sugar, spicy notes; short mild sweetbitter finish; medium body, watery to oily texture, soft carbonation; could use a bit more body but overall a pleasant mild brown ale
