3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Thanks to bierkoning for that one. Bottle looks good. Beer in the glass dark brown, nice head. Starts strong, fine malty, not too roasty. Fine spicy with some sourish notes. Nutty-dry background. Finish still sourish, a bit alcoholic. Okay.
bottle, from a trade with joes. lightly hazed dark brown with a cream head; aroma of woody almond; slightly tinny flavourrs with notes of cocoa, orechovice and a light bitterness jd7h (44) - NETHERLANDS - APR 3, 2014
A tad too dark for my taste. Not as ’full’ of taste as other almost-black beers. My stout-loving friend liked it very much, though. BobEvers (370) - NETHERLANDS - DEC 17, 2013
Erg aangenaam! MarcoDL (5100) - NETHERLANDS - DEC 4, 2013
Tasty doppelbock with a malty body and spicy notes of the almond nuts. Nice. TBone (17784) - Pori, FINLAND - NOV 22, 2013
Bottled 30cl Tnx Edo. Dark brown color, good creamy beige head. A bit odd toasted-nutty aroma. Medium-bodied. Sticky, toasted flavor with nuts, brown sugar, rye bread and alcohol. Feels unbalanced.

On tap at the Bockbier Festival in Amsterdam. Pours a near clear amber with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of peat, smoke and wood with a dark grain backbone. Flavor has some peat note that gives a touch of bandaid and a dark grain. LomYst (905) - Rotterdam, NETHERLANDS - SEP 19, 2013
Its à bit cakey but i dong get THE nuts, let alone Almond... Nice stout though thickish, dark, coffee, sweetness in back of mout... Great head! ShivanDragon (4302) - Leeuwarden, NETHERLANDS - JUN 30, 2013

Medium body, romig, laag co2, kruidige/zoete afdronk, spuuglelijk etiket overigens! Christos (5862) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - APR 12, 2013
330 ml long-neck bottle, at home. Poured into a snifter. ABV 7.7%, heavy alcohol on this bock, let’s see.
Dark brown colour, very dark, almost black. Two full fingers of beige head on top, thick and soapy, with very good retention, leaving light off-white lacine around the glass.
Aroma of roasted malts and a bit of the alcohol. Faint stewed fruits aroma as well.
Taste is sweet, I can’t say that it has a specific flavour that stands out. Just a flat sweetness. It becomes much more interesting on the aftertaste though, with roasted malts, offering a nice bitterness, while the almonds are there, but way back on the background and very discreet, in fact so discreet that I’m not sure if I am tasting them or I just imagine it. The high alcohol is very well hidden.
Full body, good amount of carbonation.
Good bock beer. safaricook (9) - NETHERLANDS - FEB 7, 2013 does not count
This tastes more like a stout than a dutch bokbier as gets very heavy on roasted malts. I don’t get the almonds, but I don’t know the regular Nelis. Good feel and all in all decent.
