Sweet, appley aroma. Dark, murky brown in color with an effervescent off-white head. Complex dry fruit, buttery (diacetyl?) ...a solid quad with a slightly dry finish. Hunsell (403) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JAN 20, 2005
Bought a bottle at this sympathetic brewery. They told me that this is a Quadrupel-style beer.
I didn’t quite know what to expect but it was pretty good. Very nice darkbrown appearance, lasting and creamy head. Dark fruits are well represented in this brew. This certainly had character. And quality. Strong mouthfeel, bit alcoholic palate. Didn’t bother me at all. Excellent brew! dutchbeerpages (2439) - Wilnis, NETHERLANDS - MAR 21, 2010
aroma of strawberries and other red fruit. Very dark, almost black. Has the viscosity and palate of a porter so it does make you sip it for a long time. Very nice taste evolution as well with a nice alcoholc warming aftertaste. cgarvieuk (25987) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 27, 2010
Tap at De Prael ...dark brown ... sweet toffee plums and treacle nose ... juicy ... very rich and dark fruits ... again a little treacle ... little red wine . Svesse (8803) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - SEP 5, 2010
(Draught at De Prael Proeflokaal, Amsterdam, 31 July. According to the chalk board the ABV is 11.0%) Dark brown colour with hints of red. Frothy, beige head. Malty nose with dried fruit, caramel, raisins and spicy hints of nutmeg. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, raisins, herbs, caramel and dark bread. Full body, smooth and well rounded mouthfeel. Fairly sweet with some alcohol shining through in the finish. Very nice.

Dark brown/black color, with a thick creamy head. Aroma is full and sweet chocolate malty, but not very complex. Sweet taste, chocolate malty. Bit dry and sharp alcoholic palate. thebeertourist (5188) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 23, 2010
Bottle from the brewery shop, ABV is 11.5%, so a new edition is appearantly made. Dark reddish brown with a big tan head. Sweet, fruity aroma, notes of plums. Sweet molasses and plummy flavours, still not overly sweet. Decent. oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - JUL 12, 2007
Bottled. Amber colour, beige big head. Aroma is earthyness, malts and some slight caramel. Flavour is hay, alcohol, caramel and some earthyness. The bottle made a 5-6 cm high fountain when opened... yespr (47567) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - MAR 12, 2008
75 cL bottle, thanks to fonefan. Pours dark brown with a fully diminished head. Light yeasty and solid caramel malt aroma. Flavour is medium sweet and light spiced. Almost toffee like flavour. Smooth and toffee flavoured finish. Grovlam (4253) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 14, 2008
Bottle. [Courtesy of fonefan] Large off-white creamy head that really lasted. Hazy nutty color. Good display of lacework. Aroma was very fruity with hints of toasted malt and grain. Some underlying yeast, malt and again fruit as the predominant note. Medium bodied with a lively carbonation. Moderated sweet fruity flavor with hints of light sour notes. Fruity finish. Quit nice.
