Bottle. Pours a cloudy light brown with a small ring of white head. Aroma of anise, licorice, light fruits (apple, pear, fig). Flavor is of much of the same -- lots of fruits, anise star, and some light spices. Very full-bodied and drinkable. Great beer!

Bottle. Aroma of light fruits, pepper, licorice, some bubblegum, a dark, vaguely pumpernickel, breadiness. Flavor again very bready with a prominent but gentle spice character and balancing sweet malty notes, hints of chocolate. Pretty much what I’d expect out of a good black saison. Fascinating aroma has quite a bit tropical fruit - banana bubblegum. Flavor has some nice cocoa notes to it. Interesting beer. SuzyGreenberg (1603) - Seattle, Washington, USA - APR 9, 2010
750 ml bottle; pours hazy dark orange with thin white head and some minor floaties; light nose of dried fruits, apricots, apples and brown sugar; fizzy mouthfeel with some yeastiness; has a herbal quality to it mixed with the fruit; mild spiciness with a touch of licorice, caramel and dough; not terribly complex or having much yeast character; peach, apricots and a little woody vanilla too; decent overall and not really in the saison mold IMO j12601 (12000) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - JUN 23, 2010
Bottle at Paul’s saison tasting. Pours a somewhat hazed dark brown with a thin beige head. Strawberries, sweet herbal notes, caramel and chocolate. Medium bodied, sweet and smooth. Finishes with a bit more faint musk, a touch of chocolate and figs.

Bottle @ Paul’s saison tasting. Dark brown pour, some reminisce of head. Notes of sugar, sweet fruits, cocoa, and almost a licorice hint. jimhilt (2610) - Bow, New Hampshire, USA - MAR 13, 2011
Pours a three finger cream head that fades slowly leaving some lace. Hazy amber color, ton of yeast left in bottle. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is unpasteurized apple cider, but flavor is not a saison more bready and hints of caramel. Higher ABV is hidden. $8.99 for a caged & corked 750ml bottle from Julio’s Liquors Westborough, Ma. I think this was the beer I had at 1904 Beer House. Poured dark brown and cloudy with a decent tan head. Aroma was dark fruit and yeast. Nice, complex, and inviting. Flavor also offered that complex dark fruit and yeast. Caramel, bread, and a bitter hop flourish at the finish. Nice. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - MAR 25, 2010
750, corked and baled. thanks clint! pours a crystal clear very dark brown with a loose and thin tan head. big caramel and brown sugar nose. creamy medium body, active carb. brown sugar, caramel, and toast on the mid palate. mild caramel finish. MaBeer1972 (2060) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 13, 2010
A clear light amber colored brew with a light sweet spice aroma. Very interesting flavor with vanilla and light sweet nutty flavors. 8% is well masked. Not your typical saison, but enjoyable.
