750 cc procured via PUB’R, the Pennsylvania Underground Beer Railroad. And, lest I forget, fuck the PLCB and Wendell Young. This one pours chill hazy dark straw with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is very fruity, hoppy, perfumy, and floral, with big peach, coconut verbena, and strawberry aromas. Tastes pretty sweet, very fruity, with strawberry, peach, and coconut flavors, mild hops, and syrupy sweetness at the finish. The alcohol is well hidden, but the finish is a tad cloying. Pour had minimal head but decent lacing and was a golden/copper color. Taste was pretty standard belgian ale, with tinges of interesting flavors (tropical and sour) in the background. Light body with smooth consistent palate. The coconut/coconut water did not appear in my tasty, but still an interesting beer. The "tropical" is more of a gimmick in this Belgian ale than anything else: the coconut is vaguely present (though moreso than in some other coconut beers) and the peaches (even though they’re not remotely tropical) only slightly moreso. This wasn’t a bad ale, and certainly an intriguing concept, but it doesn’t come across as anything special, and for the price ($16 per 750ml bottle), it is not worth purchasing again.
Pours a 1cm tall head of off-white foam, comprised of small-sized bubbles that give an overall appearance of something frothy. Head retention is below average, lasting just about thirty seconds, quickly falling to a thin ring around the perimeter of the glass and some super-thin, hazy swirls of lace resting atop the body of the beer. Lacing along the sides of the glass is fairly good, with a semi-dense matrix of dots clinging to the walls of the glass. Body is a dirty dishwater golden brown, with light bringing out paler golden orange-yellow hues. Carbonation not visible through the nearly opaque (90-95% opacity) body.
Aroma of musty basement mixed with old, dried peaches, other fruity esters at a lesser concentration (apple, pear in particular), mild Brettanomyces phenolics (burnt plastic), ethanol, and mild coconut juice. The aroma feels heavy, dense, musky. Definitely not bright, estery, and fruity as in traditional tripels, but interesting and enjoyable in its own way.
Front of palate finds basement mustiness, Brett phenolics, light sweetness either from malt or candy sugar, and modest hints of peach. Mid-palate is a mixture of coconut juice, Brettanomyces phenolics (burnt plastic), ethanol, candy sugar sweetness, basement mustiness, and mealy apples. Back of palate detects basement mustiness, Brettanomyces-created phenolics, ethanol, white pepper, and modest peach and apple flavors. Aftertaste of mild bitterness, ethanol, coconut juice, and a bit of biscuit-like maltiness.
Beer is medium-bodied, with medium-low levels of carbonation, leading to a slightly foamy (1/2) and smooth (1/2) mouthfeel that is enjoyable, though perhaps a bit undercarbonated for the style. This has been available for a while at some spots but I decided to bite at the Holy Grale. It was a respectable strong ale although not one that I think I would drop $20 for to cellar a bottle. It would be interesting to see what happens to it over time though if someone wants to share a bottle in the next few years.
Aroma / Appearance - The warm orange glow is semitransparent like the clouds peeking through sunset. A soft wispy head idles on top. Orange polish, lemons, sweet malts, and tropical fruits are like a glass of soda masquerading as beer. The vinous undertones bring to mind a smooth white wine.
Flavor / Palate - Sweet slices of fresh orange enrich the palate. Yeast and a generous wave of powdered sugar soften the throat before a tropical finish. I think a bit more depth could improve this - maybe that will come with time. I’ll have to keep an eye for bottles on sale and maybe grab one.

Bouteille partagée par mon ami Patrick. Bière orange avec une mousse beige durable. Un nez de triple il va s’en dire. Ce nez est parfumé de fruits tropicaux, de sucre blanc, de noix de coco et de petits fruits. En bouche il y a beaucoup de coco, c’est sucré! Plus le liquide se réchauffe plus la noix de coco prend le desssus. La texture est soyeuse. Bottle:   Dirty golden, some sediment floating about, large sudsy white head, nice lacing.   Bready nose, sweet, moderate alcohol.   Oak, coconut, and peaches?   Sweet bready nose, a little floral, a touch fruity, but can I say its peach?   Nope... also a bit of alcohol is present.   Not a bright Tripel, does have some fruitiness to it.   Can’t say I am get anything listed on the label tho.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Warming on the finish, bready, a little fruity.   Doesn’t come across as anything special, given that its a collaboration beer.   I do get a slight coconut on the backside as it warms up.   Perhaps the peach comes out a little as well, albiet a bit alcoholic.   Not a huge floral example, but it does seem fruity and has that added coconut aspect.   Very interesting, sweet, and floral at times.   The peach and coconut are subtle, and only come out once this has warmed up.   Not getting any of the oak tho.   Interesting to say the least, and every so slightly cloying in its sweetness.   Certainly different. Tap at Zio Carlo. Pours a slightly hazy orange color with a nice white head. Aroma is fantastic. Sweet fruit, wood, a touch of tart notes, peach and yeast. Flavor is Belgian fruit, yeast, tart notes, some peach finishings, with a tingly finish. This stuff rocks!

On tap at Barrels & Bottles. Orange and hazy appearance with a white head. Spices, herbs, rye, tropical fruit, Belgian yeast, fruity esters. Pretty sweet and fruity with light oak and coconut. Medium body with a lingering spiced finish.
