Bottleshare at Leighton’s flat. Hazy amber beer, good cream colour head. Palate is airy and dry with decent fine carbonation. Caramelly malts with a light woody vibe. Nice sherry blends well with the caramel. Nothing like as much alcohol heat here, compared to the base beer. Smooth semi dry finish with a sherry - caramel linger. Liked this and finished the bottle.
Bottle shared at the ’Beers of London’ Tasting MkII, Bespin Cloud City - Hyde Park zone, thanks to King Ken of Kloppa Kasteel 11/02/15. Lightly hazed orange amber with a moderate off white coverng that dissipates. Nose is rich dark fruit rinds, cake mix, dates, spice, raisens, toffee.
Taste comprises candied fruit peel, woody notes, sherry licks, spice, dates, light toffee, fruit cake.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with warming alcohol.
Ok Belgian strong, carries some depth to the flavour compared to the base beer. mR_fr0g (14027) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 16, 2015
Bottle shared at Leightons pad. Many thanks to Kenny for this one. Hazed orange coloured pour with a small halo of white head, semi-viscous. Aroma is big solvent alcohol, caramel and apple, toffee. Flavour is composed of sweet orange, caramel, honey, tangy fruits, raisin, sweet berry, little liquorice. Palate is sweet, medium full, moderate carbonation. Lingering orange, caramel. Tangy. Nose was a bit of a let down. The_Osprey (9698) - Richmond, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 16, 2015
Bottle share thanks to Ken. Cloudy browny orange, small foamy white head. Aroma is sour, flowers, syrupy honey. Body is medium, rich, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is oxidised, meaty, sherry, sweet. I found this one a bit hard going - preferred the pure version.

Bottle thanks to Kenny. It pours cloudy orange-amber with a tiny beige head. The nose is earthy, orange rind, brioche, light spice, sweet sherry, pepper and some umami notes. The taste is bitter-sweet, sweet orange, spice, booze, sherry, stewed fruits, spice and plenty of doughy malts with a warming finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. A hefty beast of a beer, but the bit of barrel-aging adds something for sure. Decent. Leighton (22819) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 11, 2015
Bottle shared in London - thanks to Kenny. Pours lightly hazy gold with a creamy white head. The nose holds some wood, rich fruits, bread. Medium to big sweet flavor with nice ripe fruit, some leather, alcohol, golden raisins, dates. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish with some apple sauce, more dates, raisins, bread. Very good. Travlr (26428) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - FEB 5, 2015
Bottle. Murky golden amber color, flat. Big fruity vanilla and brandy aroma. Taste is sweet and boozy apple brandy and butterscotch. Really interesting. thewolf (12946) - Kolding, DENMARK - JUN 13, 2014
Bottle, bought @ De Hopduvel, Gent. Pours clear orange red with a small, staying, creamy white film head. Aroma has viniousness, Port, caramel, soft oxidation, raisins, a touch of chocolate. Medium to low carbonation, fine dry and very creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is elegant, very sweet, raisins, plums, tobacco, a touch of peity smoke. Long, sweet and vinious finish. A fabulous example of barrel aging. So much more complexity. PriorL (3068) - Gent, BELGIUM - AUG 26, 2013
