Sample at Kurtkeller 011: Crooked Stave-tastic 01 on 05/02/2014. Pours a cloudy bronze color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, hops and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of tropical fruit, herbal yeast, earthy malt and hops. The finish is resiny hops up front with a slight rye and yeast aftertaste. Pretty good overall. Ed5388 (3488) - Forked River, New Jersey, USA - MAR 6, 2014
750ml c&c bottle shared by JohnGonk. Pours a cloudy orange color with a foamy off white head. Aroma of old orange skins, sugary orange slices, pineapple, caramel malt, and a hint of banana. Taste of orange zest, older citrus fruit, rye spice, pine, and some light Belgian notes. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - JAN 28, 2014
Bottle: thanks, Kevin! Sloppy, golden-amber color with haze all about, topped with a quickly fading white head that soon becomes a thin collar. Aroma has notes of pine tree, juicy orange, dry Belgian yeast with a hint of characteristic spiciness, & a light soapiness. Hard to pick out the rye. Taste is crisp yeast up front that is definitely Belgian; lots of bready notes, light fruity esters, & a hint of clove-like spice. Soon overpowered with hops; pine, orange peel, citrus, & a back-end weediness & grassy character. Again, picking up some borderline soap-like notes, but not enough to be off-putting. Perhaps just abrasion from the hoppage. Crisp, dry, lofty, & relatively light bodied... Tasty Belgian-American hybrid, definitely unique. Bottle: The aroma consists of citrus, rye, light tropical fruits, and a hint of Belgian yeast. It pours a slightly hazy golden-orange with a small white head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. The flavor starts with a quick dose of tropical fruit, orange, and a touch of lemon. There’s some faint Belgian yeast in the background. The finish has grapefruit and rye. It’s light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation. BeerdedDave (2051) - Beckley, USA - JAN 13, 2014
light amber color; citrusy hop aroma; plenty of citrusy hops; great, dry rye malt and just a bit of spicy, fruity Belgian yeast; leaves a great, bitter, very dry aftertaste

Poured from a bomber into a snifter glass a cloudy orange with a thick cream head with an aroma of malty Belgian yeast & slight hops.
Taste is fruity caramel maybe lemony? Nicely carbonated.
Overall a better than average beverage & then some. superspak (6392) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - DEC 8, 2013
750 ml bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours lightly hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tangerine, pineapple, peach, orange zest, lemon zest, grapefruit, pear, floral, grass, spicy rye, pepper, clove, light honey, bread, herbal, and floral/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of hop, malt, and yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of big tangerine, pineapple, orange zest, lemon zest, pear, floral, grass, spicy rye, light honey, light pine, pepper, clove, herbal, and floral earthiness. Fair amount of earthy floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, pineapple, orange zest, lemon zest, pear, floral, grass, spicy rye, light honey, pepper, herbal, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice compexity and balance of hop, malt, and yeast ester flavors; with a moderately crisp malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth, crisp, and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian rye IPA. All around great complexity and balance of bright hop, malt, and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering. umich03jm (3512) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - NOV 26, 2013
750 ml C&C bottle. Pours a cloudy gold-amber color with medium sized foamy head that lingers very nicely and leaves good lacing. Great aroma of tropical fruit, fruit cake, bread, citrus fruit and a hint of Belgian yeast. Great mix of styles in the taste. Citrus and tropical fruit hops, rye bread and a nice Belgian fruitiness. Spicy finish. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel and I love the soft but thick carbonation. Really cool and unique IPA. I might need to grab another bottle of this to see how it develops. malrubius (3125) - Springfield, Vermont, USA - NOV 21, 2013
Bottle from Save On. Cloudy caramel color with head and lace. Citrus and herbal aroma with a little sweet pastry.
