The sixth edition of the De Proef Brewmaster’s Collaboration Series is our first blended beer. Legendary brewer, Alan Sprints of Hair of the Dog joins Dirk Naudts at De Proef to create this unique bottle conditioned beer. Flanders Fred is a blend of Flanders-sourced lambic with a collaboratively-brewed version of the famous Hair of the Dog Fred. The result is a deep golden ale topped with a creamy off white head. The nose is complex with notes of lemon, pine, tropical fruits and spice. The palate is rich and layered with toffee, apricot and almond, balanced by some green apple, a hoppy bitterness and barnyard funk. Please enjoy Flanders Fred with food and friends. This beer should pair very well with many cheeses, roasted vegetables and grilled meats. We believe this bottle will continue to evolve beautifully over the next few years, adding a subtle blending of the flavors.

750 ml bottle shared by BelgBeerGeek, present by Todd Hannon. Pasteurised I think. Rather bland.

Pours a murky hazel with very little carbonation or head. Smells like honey and straw, slight caramel. Taste was very unique, very balanced honey, earthy, wood, slightly bitter. Palate was mild with a bit of a bitter aftertaste. Overall, a unique experience, not sure I’ve tried anything like this before.

dfearnley (2247) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 4, 2014
Bottle to tulip Apricot, plum, apple sauce, lemon, and caramel. Cloudy reddish amber with a long lasting creamy white head. Taste is heavy apricot, orange, tart, and funk.

VertBaconStrips (2392) - Blerkablerka, VENEZUELA - JAN 4, 2014
I love ferris he is wonderful and smells lovely and looks oddly sexy in sweats. Lame ass smell (not ferris), sweet cherry, Chardonnay, light caramel I think not much. The taste is much better - dull. Lightly sour cherry, oak, weak vinegar, hint I apricot, breathe out some alc, wood stuff, meh. Not feeling this at all. Light water light fat.

Ferris (16106) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 4, 2014
Bottle - Bready, honey and apricot sweetness. Hazy gold with a rich white head. Sour apricot and marmalade sweetness. Tastes so much better than it smells. Fruity and sour, but a bit jammy.
