Maybe about 8 years old now? Forgot about this one at the back of the cellar. Opens with a small puff and pours without much head; carbonation is weak by now. More my fault than the beer’s, I suppose. Darker pour than I expected, orange-tan. Nose is muscat and sherry, some wood. Vanilla. Hints of balsamic. The flavor at this age is really different from almost anything else I’ve had. Elements recall well-aged English barleywines for their sherry character, but this is a wholly separate beast. Big malt body, molasses bread. Tons of apple, plenty of dried plum and raisin. Alcohol seems pretty prominent for only 8.5% and 8 years of age. At first I was a bit surprised and taken aback, but as I get further and further into the bottle I’m coming to appreciate this as a rare and strange treat.

Bottle from Market of Choice, South Eugene. Pours a clear golden straw, lots of white head, aroma crisp and slightly fruity, some grassy notes. Body lively and dry, with a hint of Brett in the finish, a little bit of tannic, grassy bitterness. For seven years old, this beer is pretty tremendous. Bottle from Bev 4 Less: The aroma has a healthy serving of Belgian yeast dominating over all the other beer making ingredients but does also include a whiff of strong alcohol. Appeared as a dirty hazed golden honey color with a fat topping of head which did take some time to retreat and make drinkable. The flavor is tart and slightly sour and in my opinion isn’t quite right. True, the flavor still remains spicy but I could easily compare it to a meal. Some people good but add the right spice or some people can cook really good and right the perfect spicing. Well, on this beer I think just the right amount of spice was added and the recipe of the task at hand wasn’t to my tasting. I just think something went wrong or my bottle is a bad runt because everyone else seems to like this beer—not me.

(Backlog) Dark golen to orange in color with a nice light white head. Smell is fruity, sweet, light tartness, banana, and malts. Taste is fruits, lacks much sourness, and malts.

Bottle. Poured a clear golden color with a mostly lasting frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour yeast and citrus aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and lively carbonation. Medium to heavy sour & sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet & sour finish of moderate duration. This is a soft beer for style. 750ml bottle, shared by tmoney99. Totally hazy yellow orange color. Thin white head. Some ridges of lace. Bigger body. Lighter, kind of soft smooth carbonation. Lightly sticky finish. A lot of belgian candy sugar and caramel malt sweetness. Light spiciness, toffee, some burnt sugars. Light orange citrus, but the sugary malty sweetness overpowers that, this isn’t what I’d call a delicate, bright beer. On tap @ Beachwood Brewing. Nice golden colored pour with a white head. The nose is somewhat phenolic and funky. Big pepper and spice notes. Leather, barnyard, and some fruit. Light lemon, strawberry, and citrus. Not bad. Some malt comes through as well. Flavor is slightly sweet, but also a bit dry on the finish and tart. Lemon, barnyard, leather, and pepper. Hints of strawberry, citrus zest, and bread.
