A strong blonde ale of about 8% alc. by volume that claims vaguely to be an “abbey” beer, Guldenberg bears no resemblance whatsoever to any Tripel you may have sampled, except in color perhaps. It is very hoppy and malty (though not quite as assertive as De Ranke’s XX Bitter). Made in small batches only on the weekends, they are quickly gaining a reputation as the best specialty beers of Belgium.
Previously 8.5% abv.

Opaque orange with medium head. Less fruity than typical Belgian Abbey triple/Abt. Aroma citrus. Medium body. Quite carbonated. Flavors of wheat, citrus, mellow fruit. Quite subtle & pleasant, not overwhelming.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2018 Nothing special or distinguishable about this one. Aroma is yeast, malt, alcohol. Same follows in the taste with the alcohol being well hidden by the sugar sweetness. After is malty sweet and sugar sweet.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2018 Robe orange foncé. Mousse épaisse. Nez houblon, citron, herbe.

Massive, eggshell white head, dissipates into a wisp atop a cloudy golden pour. Belgian yeast, celery, white pepper, light wood, dampness on the nose. Crisp, clean and dry, white grape, yeast, wood, light spice. Very easy and well built.

Large bottle bought somewhere in Brugge as a present for me. Golden-amber with a head and hazy due to the sediment floating about the ale. Has yeasty pale malts in both aroma and taste, all very tasty with a small smoothness in its texture, with its strength fairly hidden by the sum of these parts.

Bottle. Golden, clouded, white foam. Aroma: floral, esters, malt, slightly fortified wine. Taste: bitter-sweet, berry, a bit citrus, bitterly, warming, good.

UPDATED: DEC 3, 2017 color oro tendente all'arancio con schiuma bianca fine persistente.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2017 golden belgium ale with plenty of hops and a bitter though refreshing taste

Frische Nase. Schöner Körper mit gut verstecktem Alkohol.
