A strong blonde ale of about 8% alc. by volume that claims vaguely to be an abbey beer, Guldenberg bears no resemblance whatsoever to any Tripel you may have sampled, except in color perhaps. It is very hoppy and malty (though not quite as assertive as De Rankes XX Bitter). Made in small batches only on the weekends, they are quickly gaining a reputation as the best specialty beers of Belgium.

After the first few sips, my impression is this is a fruiter, less funky, farmhouse saison. Refreshing and delicious. Elegant, complex aromas and flavors of tangerine, ripe stonefruit, florals, and Belgium yeast. Super easy to drink, with wonderful carbonation and great mouthfeel. Loved the texture!! Long finish of florals, fruit and yeast. Recommended. Yum! --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

Hazy golden colour, medium head with short retention. Good lace. Aroma of peaches, spices, herbs, pepper, fennel. Unfortunately, as youre drinking, it fades and ends in cardboard. Round palate, thick and creamy. Good carbonation. Taste of caramel, fruits, spices, herbs. Same thing as the aroma, turns to unpleasant notes. Subject to revision sometime in the future.

Bottle at De Heeren van Liedekercke. Pours hazy yellow with a foamy, white head that disappears completely over time and leaves no lacing. The aroma contains citrus, orange, hops, yeast, sugar and herbs. It tastes medium sugary sweet and medium hoppy bitter. Fizzy carbonation, oily texture and full body. Good balance.

Not very hoppy, but pleasant and easily drinkable. Some funk and earthy overtones.

Bottle from Cafe Delirium. Murky light orange. Heated aroma. Spices, floral, orange, lemon peel. The aroma literally burns. The flavor hits with some heat but its not the same. Notes of citrus, berry, orange, hop, wheat and floral. A bouquet. Not as entertaining as the smell. Like somethings lacking. Very clean though.

UPDATED: MAY 22, 2017 Very solid belgian, indeed a bit more hoppy than most, although I caught a bit of alcohol initially, which I dont terribly mind but be warned. Perfect carbonation, very refreshing, even caught a whiff of some funky belgian yeasts in the background
