A strong blonde ale of about 8% alc. by volume that claims vaguely to be an abbey beer, Guldenberg bears no resemblance whatsoever to any Tripel you may have sampled, except in color perhaps. It is very hoppy and malty (though not quite as assertive as De Rankes XX Bitter). Made in small batches only on the weekends, they are quickly gaining a reputation as the best specialty beers of Belgium.

Part of a Belgian tasting at K&L in Redwood City. Big white head. Creamy mouthfeel. A decent Triple that does not standout in many respects.

12oz bottle pours a hazy pale brown color with a bit of head. Fruity yeast aroma. Lots of fruity Belgian yeast flavor, but a little heavy on the hops that overpower a little.

lightly cloudy darker gold. white cap and lacing. light yeast and dusty nose. some apple and light pit fruit in the nose and flavor. Almost a sweet corn aspect as well. Lightly bitter. Pleasant but not a favorite.

Clear nose and hazy with firm white head. Taste is with some typical Belgian yeast and delicate hops. Quite intense in taste and also fresh bitterness. Palate is medium long with hops on the back of the mouth together with remaining yeast.

Piana biała, o niezbyt imponującej strukturze, szybko opadająca do chmurki.

Bottle. Teku. Orange, medium hazy with medium, off-white, frothy head. Average head retention and lacing. Aroma is medium fruity and citrus, along with mild malty profile with light to medium yeasty notes, some spices (pepper). Taste is moderate sweet due to nice clear malty backbone with medium bitter (nicely hopped) notes, pretty well balanced. Medium to full body, creamy texture, average carbonation, finish is dry and fruity. In general good, yeasty and quite complex beer.

On tap at Luppolo Station in Rome-Italy, on the day of the tap takeover. Cloudy golden/orangey pour, rock white foam leaving drafts. Nose: fruity peach/apricot notes, sweet malty notes, some citric or orangey hops. Mouth: sweet start, orange jam, the finish is slightly sweet and dry. Strong and elegant. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
