bottle-conditioned 750ml. careful pour is lightly hazed light amber with a large off-white lasting head. rich hop aromatics of flowers, citrus / pineapple / mango, dried grass) with seemingly endless depth to the yeast (basement must, spices, dried herbs, minerals). enjoyable but muted crackers and bread crust pale malt expression. medium-light body with high effervescence and soft malt texture; strongly spicy and bitter, pithy and somewhat astringent at times, but with the malt soft as it is the hop brashness can be taken. chewy sweet pale malt sugars across the front and middle with a lingering oiliness late in a vibrant, spicy, mineral-heavy finish. lovely stuff. I wish a local producer could put something out like this.

Bottle from Dranken Geers. This has a few years on it, so on first opening I was a little disappointed but its overly chilled. Really opens up nicely as it warms up. Bright, cloudy amber in the glass, large white foam head. Nose was a little muted, but opening up now. Big rounded grains, barley and maybe wheat, fruity yeast, hop is giving lychee, light grapefruit and lemon citrus, guava, floral yeast. The hop is on the fade but still lots of goodness there. Taste is rich barley grains, lychee, guava, light lemon and grapefruit citrus, slight pine, floral yeast. Lovely rich grains. The balance between the malt, hop and yeast is delightful. Finish is the lychee, little pine bitter and hints of those lovely grains.

Dark golden with amber leanings. Elegant and plain beautiful white foam of exemplary consistency and lacing. Spicy, flowery, earthy nose is efficient yet probably not at its freshest. A complicated affair between yeast and intrusive hops. Pale malts merely watch from a distance, making for a very lean, yet fiercely carbonated body. Characterful yet noble hop bite, feeling rather green, herbal and lingering in the mouth nicely. Once you have a glass in your face, it is tough to imagine spending more than a minute without reaching for a sip, so thats a good sign. Yeast is more on the spicy, peppery phenolic side than estery, minimal yellow fruits peaking here and there. Very dry palate with just a kiss of acidity, mostly from the bubbliness. Less citrus than I would have expected, really veering more toward white pepper and sage. Would be uplifting for many a meal.
