25 cl. draft @ Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Had this again very fresh this year, it seems. Pale golden with a very creamy white head. Nose is pretty interesting, big floral hop profile, plastic hops, grass with a touch of caramel malts,… Taste is bitter plastic (50/…) / floral (…/50) hops, touch herbs, faint spices, touch hay, barn, faint white berries, raw, slight caramel,… way less brutal than the 2012 was. Easy to drink, still less startling than the XX & 2012 fesh. Way bellow the startling XXX. omhper (25963) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - NOV 13, 2013
Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm. Hazy pale amber, rich firm head. Huge floral grassy hop aroma. Mid dry with solid body and soft mouthfeel. Elegant despite the onslaught of hopas. Evident marzipany yeast character, the doughy grainy malt shines through. Marked but mild resiny bitterness. Remains the archetypical BIPA. malmostoso (9) - BELGIUM - NOV 14, 2013 does not count
Bottle at home, bought directly at De Ranke.
Pours a lovely orange with nice head disappearing quickly.
Aroma is very hoppy, as you would expect.
The bitterness of the beer is great and balanced by the malts. After every sip the bitterness lingers on the tongue inviting to go back for more.
Very fizzy with a bitter finish.
Absolutely great. ekstedt (7013) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - DEC 19, 2013
Bottle (75 cl) from Etre Gourmet. Almost clear golden, with medium white head. Hoppy and phenolic aroma with herbs and some peppery notes. Light to medium bodied, high carbonation. Dry with firm bitterness. Very much like the ordinary XX Bitter but with a darker colour. finol (3525) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - NOV 17, 2013

UPDATED: SEP 17, 2014 750ml bottled October 2013 (10 months old, taken from a cool, dark box, just to be sure). Quiet, airy nose shows floral Belgian noble hops well... mild spice / pepper, yeast is mostly neutral, malt is quiet toasty pale malt a pleasant cracker quality. This is supposedly the Saison grain bill with XX Bitter hop bill - not something I would guess, but it seems close to that if thought about. Juicy and succulent in the mouth, oily, refreshing, seemingly fresh and unaffected by age (though I suspect the quiet expression may be due to age, but definitely no oxidation). Remarkable mouth presence, filling, soft, just acidic enough to match the succulent sugars... it’s not as deep as XX Bitter or Saison de Dottignies, and shows a green wet hop character that I don’t find in XX BItter... that’s not a complaint, just a comparison. tiong (7754) - Espoo, FINLAND - DEC 7, 2013
Draught @ Pikkulintu, HelsinkiChristian (13932) - Odense, DENMARK - JAN 25, 2014
Pours orange with a smooth foamy head. Aroma of hops, grass, lemon, malts and earthy notes. Taste is smooth, hoppy and grassy with hints of lemon, yeast, earthy notes and saison notes. Finish is smooth, malty and grassy with hops, yeast and earthy notes. Quite nicely hopped and tasty Belgian IPA/saison hybrid.
Hazy dark golden with a big white head. The aroma has lots of spicy and herbal hops, some spicy, yeasty notes, fruity notes and a touch of malt. Dry and hoppy flavour, with bready malt, and a lovely bitter finish
