Medium aroma of malts, caramel, wood, red fruit, cherries, tart and hops.
Opaque red/dark red beer with a slight pink head.
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, wood, red fruit and cherries; ends slightly bitter, dry and sour with tart and hops.
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Amazing cherry flavour, together with the base Belgian Ale and the added Lambic. Perfect appearance and a great palate as well, but the aroma could have been stronger.
Bottle at salty... Dark deep red... Thin tan lacing... Soft sweet funk.. Dark cherry fruits nose... Soft funk cherry.. Long tart cherry.. Dry cherries finish yngwie (17102) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JUN 4, 2017
Bottle, 75cl. A lightly hazy candy-red beer with a pinkish white head of finger-thick size. Cherryish, lemony and lightly funky aroma. Barnyard, horse blanket and some cherry pits. It’s medium bodied, tart, yet lightly berry-sweet, smoothly carbonated and with a flavor dominated by sour cherries. Some candy notes, some cherry pits and a pleasant lemony, funky flavor. Cherry dominated finish. A very pleaseant beer indeed, but as expected it’s lacking some of the complexity found in the lambic krieks. Sort of refreshing and quenching still. 170604 Meilby (11525) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JUN 4, 2017
Bottle 750ml @ yngwiedavidezdonz (545) - Hong Kong, HONG KONG - MAY 16, 2017
Pours clear red with a pink head. Aroma has notes of malt, funk, cherry and tartness. Taste is light to medium sweet, light bitter and light to medium sour with a long slightly dry, cherry, berry, funky and tart finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.
A 750ml bottle with a best before date of 26th August 2021. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass. It was a very nice clear ruby red colour with a just under two finger pinkish head that dissipated fairly quickly while leaving only sparse lacing. Aromas were sour, tart, funky, vinegar, musty with only hints of cherry. Tastes tart and sour, lots of lemon, lemon zest, vinegar and funk with again only a hint of cherries. Medium to light bodied with moderate to light carbonation. Overall, this was ok but the Belgian Sour Ale felt like it overpowered everything else, such that there was hardly any cherry in either the aroma or taste, which was not so good for a Kriek type beer.
