COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

Tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Pours hazy blood orange. Aroma is light sour cherry, wood, vinegar. Body is medium, fizzy carbonation, cherry stones, not as fruity or present as others. Tasty, but not a typical kriek, much more like a Lambic than others. Palate has some fruit and funk and sourness, but all not too dominant. Good.

Lichte cuberdon in aroma. De smaak is sprankelend en verfrissend. Mooi gematigd zuur met kriek. Zeer fijn.

Pours a dark ruby colour with minimal pinkish head. Pretty dry and surprisingly bretty nose with light sour cherry influense. The taste is again fairly tart and dry and has the same sour cherries as the nose. Fairly mineral and tart aftertaste.

Flasche (75 cl, MHD: 06/16). - Dunkles Kirschrot, rosafarbener Schaum.

750ml bottle @ Alex’s. Pours a nice rich red colour with a tiny white head. Nose is a mild sour funk with cherries. Flavour is definitely cherries, with something not quite right. Perhaps flavours influenced by the cork? wood? something just different.

Bottle - Dusty cherry notes and red apple. Reddish clearish with a decent white head. Red apple and dusty notes.

Sergey’s birthday party; vintage 2015, exp 05/02/20
Deep burgundy color, small frothy pink head. Aroma and flavor are characterized by a strange cork character, then some cherries; the mouthfeel is very dry; the flavor is a bit woody and astringent, there is acidity but no real Lambic quality.

750ml bottle from West Coast LS Kerrisdale at Alex’s in honor of my birthday and CPA PREP finish. Vintage 2015. Pours a red color with a rose head. Aroma is woody, corky and cherries, somewhat artificial. Same taste with those artificial notes. Just not bad.

Tap at Moeder Lambic Fontanais. Murky brown red with thin white head. Sweet and sour cherries, rhubarb, light metallic/woody. Over moderate sour and moderate bitter. Medium body, minerallike texture. Soft fizzy carbonation. Bit more watery in the aroma than the Cantillon cuvee moeder lambic but still a good crisp tartness that is very lovely.

Bottle shared with friends. Color: deep dark red beer with no carbonation and no foam. Smell: cherry and almond domination, sourness. Tart. Taste: medium body with cherry sourness and fruity almond notes. Quiet well balanced. Astringent. Aftertaste: cheery, almond. Tart. Very nice.
