COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

Pours a hazy brownish red on tap with bubbly pink head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of funky barnyard and sweet cherries with an overlying acidity. Taste follows, nice pleasant blend of sour fruit and funk. Acidity builds as you drink more, really nice.

fantti (1023) - FINLAND - SEP 26, 2016
Hana @ Rose Red, Brugge. Kaatuu lasiin tummahkon punaisena ja sameana, noin kolmen sormen paksuisen vaahdon suojaamana, joka jättää vahva reunuksen. Tuoksussa on kirsikkaa, hapanta nahkaisuutta, rypäleisyyttä ja muutakin marjaisuutta. Maku on hyvin vahvan nahkainen, kirsikkaisuus on hieman taustalla.

0.33 l on tap at ’Café Rose Red’. Hazy, luscious red with a rather large, slightly creamy, slowly diminishing, pinkish white head. Sourish, moderately funky and very fruity aroma of massive cherries, bitter almond, raspberries, a touch of barnyard and some oak. Quite sour, still pleasant, very fruity and a bit funky taste of massive cherries, bitter almond, raspberries, oak and some barnyard, followed by a medium long, quite tart, dry-woody finish. Medium body, slightly effervescent and quite astringent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Good one, just not too sour and very fruity, has also some nice funky notes.
