COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

Mamma mia che delizia, già io ho una venerazione per questo birrificio, poi quando il buon Nino mi sforna una meraviglia del genere...In bocca è fantastica, potresti berla senza stancarti mai, sublime...

Bottle at home. Has a hazy red colour with a small pink head. Aroma of cherries, strawberries, earth and apple cider vinegar. Sour flavour of cherries, earth, lemon, forest floor and apple cider vinegar. Short aftertaste. Has a slick and soft mouth feel, medium body and a light bitterness. Got a lot from the cherries and lambic, but has nice sweet undertones. Balanced and tasteful.

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2017 Donkerrood bier met fijne babyroze schuimkraag. Kersen, confituur, rood fruit, snoepjes. Zeer fris en vol fruitig in de mond. Fijn zuurtje in de afdronk maar het zoetige overheerst. Zeer mooie kriek.

Tap at La fine mousse. Pours hazy red. Nose is cherry, red currant, red grapes, wood, some Joghurt. Palate is cherry Joghurt, pineapple, red grapes, cherry wood, sour lime finish. Very good, not that jammy as I like it though.

Aroma:
Medium aroma of malts, caramel, wood, red fruit, cherries, tart and hops.

Appearance:
Opaque red/dark red beer with a slight pink head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, wood, red fruit and cherries; ends slightly bitter, dry and sour with tart and hops.

Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Amazing cherry flavour, together with the base Belgian Ale and the added Lambic. Perfect appearance and a great palate as well, but the aroma could have been stronger.

Bottle, 75cl. A lightly hazy candy-red beer with a pinkish white head of finger-thick size. Cherryish, lemony and lightly funky aroma. Barnyard, horse blanket and some cherry pits. It’s medium bodied, tart, yet lightly berry-sweet, smoothly carbonated and with a flavor dominated by sour cherries. Some candy notes, some cherry pits and a pleasant lemony, funky flavor. Cherry dominated finish. A very pleaseant beer indeed, but as expected it’s lacking some of the complexity found in the lambic krieks. Sort of refreshing and quenching still. 170604
