COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A fantastic Christmas beer, but one that defies the universal custom of a stronger, spicier beer for the holiday season. At 7% alcohol by volume, this one is relatively lighter in alcohol than the Guldenberg, and does not pack the hop punch of the XX. It combines some of the best elements of those other two beers – with a fine balance of malt and hops, complex character, a refreshing dryness, and a gorgeous cellar aroma – but is distinguished by its festive copper color. The 1999 Père Noël was a bit of a departure, with a very appealing yeasty tartness that was not readily discernible in earlier years.

11.2 oz bottle from Lifesource in Salem OR. $2.79 Pours a hazy amber colour with a medium sized bubbly light tan head. Honey, spicy, yeast aromas. Hints of butter rum and bananas. Cloves. Spicy, fruity Christmas pudding taste, very phenolic and clove centered..some alcohol. Mouth feel is fine..gets sticky after a while though. Not as good as i had imagined.

Dark amber colour, bit hazy (more hazy on second pour). Average white head, modest retention, some lacing. Smells of candied fruit with some background herbal/grassy notes and slight spiciness. Taste has sweetish caramel malts base, candied fruit, maybe a hint of spiciness and a quite bitter per style ending, though more a earthy/muddy bitterness than a refreshing one. Bottle is 4 months old so it’s still fresh enough. It’s not overpowering but sure not pleasant. Medium body with medium to high carbonation, again quite chewy/muddy. Decent, but not particularly rich or clean. Perphaps not a lucky bottle

Pours a light white head with Iight old hops aromas. Amber colored body. Relatively low sugar and malts for a Christmas ale. Hence hops dominance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
