Bottle (750 ml) at home, split 2-ways. Hazy orange with a small quickly vanishing white head not leaving any lacing. Aroma is quite funky with fun citric notes, oak, mild spiciness, brettanomyces, mineral notes and hints of lemon. Taste is quite funky as well, musty, oak, citric notes / oranges, brettanomyces and mild spiciness. Medium body. Still. Oaky mouthfeel. Citric and musty finish. I always thought that the Girardin lambiek component was why Cuvée de Ranke was so stellar but I must say I’m really impressed by this beer. The funk here is really lambic-like. Lovely balance and funk. Very good!

Piana nieduza, mydlana, szybko opada do firanki. Barwa zlota, opalizujaca. Aromat przyjemnie winogronowy, lekko dziki, budzi skojarzenia z bialym winem, sianem, derka, kwiatami... W smaku kwaskowe, lekko cierpkie, pestkowe, tu winogrona, nafta, stara skóra i wino takze dominuja. Na finiszu lekka tanicznosc od beczki, troszke ziól, nieduza, migdalowa goryczka, zero alkoholu. Niskie wysycenie, rzeskie, lekkie w odbiorze.
Kolejne bardzo udane piwo z De Ranke. Troszke mniej agresywne od Cuvée De Ranke bardziej plaskie, ale jednoczesnie nieziemsko pijalne, wiosenne, letnie. Klasa!

White almost absent head. Orange honey colour. Aroma is malty, fruity with citrus, pear, apple and sour notes. Flavor is moderately malty too with fruity (pear, apple and apricot) and sour tones, ending in a moderately sour finish. Medium bodied.

Geproefd van 75 cl fles met West-Vlaams Bierproefgenootschap in de Hofnar op 20 juni 2017. Dank aan Dominique v Dranken Pauwels. Wazig/troebel koper / donkerblond met kleine schuimkraag. Aroma: zuurtje, putjes, hout, tikje appels. Medium body. Smaak: zurig, fijn tikje citroen, hout, lekker dorstlessend en beetje bitter. Kan gerust naast de betere geuze staan !

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2017 750ml bottle (Pothouse, Tallinn) (7:4:8:4:15=3.8)
Pleasant woody sourness in the aroma, alas some rubbery aspects to the gluey aspects. Definitely seems like an unblended sour, this has a lot to contribute to a blend, but is a bit caricatured to have on its own. (Note - ignore that: I retract it later...) Clear orange, small head settles to a ring, but the ring is persistent and leaves some spotty lacing. Taste is divine, lovely woody apricot, with a gentle sweetness. Palate has a lovely gentle tartness, but is full and smooth, really lovely on the tongue and in the mouth. Woh - after a sip, I’m now getting all the aspects I like in the taste from the aroma too, the solventier aspects have gone. Finish has that apricotty sour bite, and a lovely gentle metallic bitterness from hops too. No sign of the alcohol at all. Damn, this is good. Now I want a Cuvee to compare. Gets better with every sip. This is a beer to revisit. (Let’s get another bottle now! -anna)
