Draft at the source. Pretty close to black color beige head. Aroma of chocolate dipped in coffee. Taste is bitter dark roast coffee and pine. Solid. askewbrew (26) - Edmond, Oklahoma, USA - SEP 14, 2014
Ice-cold bottle opened with a loud hiss (overcarbed?). Pours to an explosive lathery beige head that laces well. Aroma is smoke, mocha, bread-and-jam yeast esters and citrusy hops. Flavor is a hop-forward rendition of porter or stout with a generous portion of roasty, espresso-like notes blended with citrus and resinous hops. Mouthfeel is medium-full and much like stout. Overall, I’d say this straddles the line of Black IPA and American stout. May not be as bitter as hop freaks like, but within bounds and damn tasty. edgallow (4476) - nashville, Tennessee, USA - JUN 12, 2014
22 oz bottle pours black with a off white head. Aroma of roasted malts, pine and a hint of citrus. Taste is malts, resin and some grapefruit. djd07 (15544) - Houston, Texas, USA - JAN 9, 2014
Bottle thanks to Jen. Pours a dark brown with beige head that diminshes quickly. The aroma is roast and raisin. Medium mouthfeel with rich malt and light hop with sweet finish. Good umich03jm (3512) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - JAN 8, 2014
Bomber thanks to soonerchamps. Pours near black in color with a big frothy head that fades slowly and leaves some minor lacing. Aromas are burnt toast, cocoa, pine, charcoal, and light smoke. Taste starts with a burnt sugar sweetness and finishes with a fairly strong bitterness. Burnt toast, ash, and pine are big here. Hints of cocoa or chocolate sometimes. Long burnt, hoppy finish. Meidum body, light creaminess in the mouthfeel. Really good Black IPA.

This is a dark beer with some brownish highlights when held against the light. Thin off white head. Nose of brown sugar and hops. There is lots of brown sugar sweetness with toasted bread and a nice bitter hop flavor that coats the entire thing. Ratman197 (15368) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - DEC 4, 2013
Bomber courtesy of Doodler (thanks Scott!) poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, bakers cocoa, charcoal, earthiness, pine and light grapefruit zest. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of roasted malt, earthiness, charcoal, pine and light grapefruit zest with a smooth dry lingering bitter roasty finish. On tap. Expected dark color with strains of pine puncturing the aroma of roasted malt. Big hoppy taste with smokiness pushed to the back. Remarkably clean finish for a Black IPA. Another winner from Dead Armadillo. Bricktop86 (894) - Moore, Oklahoma, USA - NOV 10, 2013
Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma is dark grains some chocolate and light pine. Taste follows nose deyholla (12282) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - NOV 2, 2013
Bottle. Pours near black with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has a good amount of roasted malts and dark grains with a bit of earthy pine underlying. Flavor is similar with strong roasted malts and dark grains up front that mellow slightly to allow a finish with a bit of bitter/earthy pine.
