small frothy offwhite head. fair lacing. fully diminishing. flat thick dark-brown body. aroma: moderate malt, chocolate, metal, paper, dried fruits. initial flavor: moderate sweet (dried fruits, malt, chocolate). final flavor: moderate sweet, light bitter acidic; long duration. Dark, some foam. No hops to speak of. A nice nutty, malty flavor. Very drinkable TimE (6263) - Tokyo, JAPAN - DEC 23, 2015
Dark brown color that doesn’t look anything like that bottle. Very malt with some noticeable chocolate malts. Mildly sweet. Fairly mainstream accented. Not actually bad, but not something I would order again. andrewje41 (4519) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - DEC 2, 2015
Draft half pint pour at S&H. Light caramel brown color with a swirl fizz head. A ton of brown sugar aroma with a nutty flavor. Grainy in the finish. Ibreally wiah this beer tasted exactly how it smells. Overall not bad. Par for a brown if you ask me. geovanicalixto (46) - Fortaleza, BRAZIL - SEP 17, 2015
Bela cerveja. Coloração marrom acobreada com espuma bege persistente. Aroma terroso. Corpo baixo e baixa carbonatação. Final com torrefação peraistente.

Disappointing ale. Pours dark with medium golden head. Caramel overall but quite plain taste. dfinney23 (3424) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAR 27, 2015
Lost rating from last fall. Pretty generic, as nut browns go. I suspect my third Dead Frog will be my last. RD400F (233) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 6, 2014
Aroma: coffee, coconut, chocolate cake, lots of rich aromas, almost can taste it just from smell alone but not terribly strong.
Appearance: Beer to Sam Adams fancy lager glass, beer poured a transparent dark brown / red with a mocha colored top that leaves moderate lacing.
Taste is bittersweet with notes of dark chocolate, liquorice, spices, backed by a slight sour earthy taste.
Palate is medium bodied, co2 low, balanced well...but it feels more like a porter than a brown ale.
Overall, not a bad beer but can’t say I’m wowed by it by any means. Solid choice though. simonblaine (593) - Alberta, CANADA - JUN 29, 2014
Pours dark brown, frothy head. Aroma of nutty malts. Taste is rather uninspiring, brown lager.

Found in their Winter Mixer pack at The Beer Store, now under "Nut Brown". Pours a deep copper brown colour with a nice creamy light-beige head, good retention and some soapy lacing. Mild nutty malt aromas, but mostly red ale malts, with notes of roasted malts. Mild chocolate malt taste with some roastiness to it. Very light hops, but efficient. Pretty mild overall, but creates an easy-drinking nut brown.
