Bottle, thanks to BBG. Dark blond / orange pour with nice white head. Aroma of spices, some bubblegum, pale belgian malt, and a little bready / pilsner like malt. Flavor is doughy malt, bubblegum, somewhat sweet from the pale belgian malt, but nice spicing also. It’s a tiny bit medicinal, but otherwise good. Solid yeast in the back and finish. UPDATED: MAR 28, 2009 Bottle from Deca services. Pours murky brown with a beige head. Aroma is very yeasty, dough, bread, also a hint of liquorice.
Mouth feel a bit too carbonated and had yeast dominating the aftertaste too much.
Will drink an aged one next year, guess it will be alot better. (3.2)
Bottles now 7 months old and much better. Carbonation and yeasts milder and flavors more balanced. Liquorice and molasses upfront. Silky palate. (3.5) StefanSD (2451) - Ouray, Colorado, USA - JUL 31, 2008
330 ml bottle from Belgian shop. Pours a cloudy-murky dark brown color with a big clumpy cream head. The aroma is rich with spicy Belgian yeasts, cola, raisins and caramel. The taste does not quite live up to the aroma--sweet roasted malts with brown sugar, a bit of raisin and a touch caramel. The mouthfeel is light with over-active carbonation that distracts. The finish is medium in duration with lingering brown sugar. Overall: A decent Belgian ale, but not top tier stuff.
