Rich chestnut to mahogany brown with a decent beige cap.
Nose is sweet malts, jammy berries, vinous, mellow barrel, red grape, caramel.
Taste comprises fruit cake, oak, toffee, light spice, red wine barrel, plummy, dried fruits, red berry jam.
Medium plus body, fine carbonation, light alcohol trail at the curtain call.
Solid stuff ... well balanced and carries the boost off well ... deserving of a top 50 style spot. mR_fr0g (14427) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 19, 2017

Cotteridge Convention III – May 2017 - Bottle share at the damp marquee tasting. Big thanks to Cloin for bringing this. As ’Deep Ellum Cabernet Barrel Aged Four Swords’, 10.5%. Hazy brown with a foamy light brown head that leaves light lacing. Aroma is bready, Danish pastries, apple, spicy. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is bready and spicy, woody, lightly tannic red wine with a sugary linger. Nice. (7-4-7-4-15=3.7) BlackHaddock (8142) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUN 8, 2017
Another beer I tried at the 3rd Cotteridge Tasting on 20th May 2017. Cheers Colin (Theydon what’s it) for this bottle. How the hell has this got into the top 50 Abt/Quad list? Murky brown/amber body, beige topping. Way too sweet, even for my sweet tooth, jammy (red fruits) nose and taste. Could not get past the sweetness to find any aging or barreling notes. mar (5479) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 3, 2017
Deep brown with a khaki head. Nose is wood, wine and dried fruit. Yeast up front, heavy florals, yeast and alcohol for flavor. Very well done. Scopey (16778) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 30, 2017
