Tap at DEBC. Pours a dark black color with a tan ring of head. Aroma is alcohol, dark chocolate and sweet notes. Flavor is grapes, sharp dark malts, bitter notes with a super sweet flavor. A little much I think safari as the residual sweetness.
Bottle from GBBF 2016, shared at Fourpure. Opaque very dark brown with a thin creamy tan brown head. Nose is coffee, roasted malt, lots of dark chocolate, slight dry bitterness, sweet syrupy but not cloying at all, subtle dark fruits. Taste - burnt bread and spicy molasses.
Palate - medium bodied with a creamy sweet texture. Dry tangy rich finish.

T42 tasting on me Birfaday. Thanks to Colin. Almost opaque deep brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth semi dry palate. Dry and bitterish dark chocolate malts. Tangy dark fruits. Smooth but bitter finish. A standard impy that differs for being notably bitter.
September 2016 - Bottle share at One Canada Square as ’Deep Ellum Darkest Hour’, 11%. Thanks to Colin. Opaque black with a foamy dense brown head. Aroma is earthy, toasted dark breads, plain chocolate, some coffee. Body is quite light for style, soft carbonation. Taste is plain chocolate, roasted coffee grounds, ashy, touch of booze showing up. Taste comprises mellow dark fruits, charr, toffee, chocolate, spice, liquorice, roasted tones.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Decent enough impy but no show stopper.
