(Draught) Pours a cloudy maize body with a medium cream head. Aroma of citrus, banana, caramel, light sulfur, and earth. Flavor of earth, grass, banana, rye, and subtle sulfur. djd07 (15089) - Houston, Texas, USA - OCT 15, 2012
On tap at cloudy amber with thick white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is funk and fruit malt. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet malt and funk with light bitter finish. Easy to drink a good alt from Deep Ellum. kidmartinek (5001) - austin, Texas, USA - OCT 9, 2012
Murky amber color. The head is frothy and.thick and lasts a long time. The aroma is light smoke and a little spice making it somewhat bitter and sharp. The flavor is smoky and quite bitter. Only the finish has a little sweetness but is still overwhelmingly long and bitter. Not what you’d expect in an Oktoberfest so you maltheads stay away. ansermadide (1526) - Kyle, Texas, USA - OCT 9, 2012
The bartendress told me this was a less sweet, more hoppy versoin of
an Oktoberfest. We’ll see about that.
It’s definitely darker and more cloudy than most Oktoberfests,
especially the filtered ones. It has a dark orange, almost brown color,
with a thick and dense cream-colored head. Its aroma is... dirty. It
has lager yeast characteristics, with spice and earthy hops somehow
combining in a way to give this beer a realy strange nose. Good,
though not great. It’s almost soapy.
In the mouth... yikes! Fountains of soap! This is (ugh) definitely an
interesting beer. There’s something sour about it that almost reminds
me of a wheat beer. I sure hope the draught lines were clean,
because this is almost an off-putting beer. As with any off-centered
beer, you start to adjust to its oddness after a while. Much of the
strangeness may be due to the variety of hops used. Still, it has a
cold emptiness to it that’s seemingly meaty, but really feels thin and
watery. Then you get sucker-punched by a wild sourness and herbal,
soapy, perfumy hop bitterness. This beer definitely takes the cake for
an off-centered beer.
Its finish is somewhat sweet, a little herbal, possibly spicy (I’m talking
lemongrass or something else weird) and ends with an interesting
yeast. I’m honestly not sure what to think of this. SphinxTX (2875) - Mata Gorda, Texas, USA - OCT 4, 2012
Pours murky amber with creamy beige head. Aroma has hints of banana, yeast, caramel, malt, some earthiness. Flavor of rich malt, earthy, fruity esters, moderately sweet, hints of smoke, earthy bitter Finnish. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy body, creamy, with medium carbonation. Overall, not bad.

Nose is grassy first with the malts hiding behind with a little yeasty cider. Almost cider like. With malt and hops. Good balence of yeast. Higher hops make this more interesting. A good beer.

On tap @ Moth.
Ruddy amber brew with some off-white head. Nose is big time malts with some earthy hops - bread, caramel, and some light smoke. Flavor has a good amount of sweetness but goes down smooth, especially for the ABV. mar (5423) - Dallas, Texas, USA - SEP 25, 2012
deep hazy amber pour with a cream head. nose is rich smoked malts, dough, grainy, and earthy. nice on the palate, smooth smoked malt flavor, earth, a little bitter in the finish.
