Cask at the Microbar Beer Festival, Manchester, 2013. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Meaty old aroma. A bit of coffee and dark chocolate in there too. Flavours of coffee, chocolate and a smidgen of licorice. Quite nice.

Cask at The Fountain, Leek. A black colour with a medium biege head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, some chocolate and subtle umami. Taste of roasted malts, coffee, slight caramel, a little chocolate and subtle umami. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A dry, roasted bitterness in the finish. A standard roasty stout but well brewed, subtle sweetness from the caramel and a hint of umami. Nice.

Cask conditioned at Fleetwood Beer Fest ’13. Black with tan head. Oddly quite fruity for a stout, prunes came to mind with a hint of tartness. Bitterness from the roasted malts does come through later, a touch thinner than expected. Still an interesting beer. Reasonable.
