Bottle thanks to Bert (slob). Poured almost brown with smallish (very) tan head. Sweet malt aroma. Taste is banana mostly backed up with light caramel and malt extract. Taste is a bit thin bodied though, but not as bad at 39 percentile. dolemike1 (1289) - Jeannette, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 29, 2004
Draft: Poured amber with a thin white head. Aroma of light burnt malts, very light. Flavor of ... almost nothing... some light caramel malts... watery bland, no hops, poorly done. jeffc666 (1984) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - MAY 28, 2004
Clear amber with a white head. Very minimal malt aroma. Flavor is a middle of the road combo of sweet malts and fruity hops. Finish is actually quite fruity. Different. jimhilt (2635) - Bow, New Hampshire, USA - MAY 25, 2004
Pours with a two-finger off-white head that leaves a good lace. Cloudy amber color. Light bodied almost watery. Vaguely spicy nose. Starts hoppy and finishes slightly hoppy, I was expecting some sweetness since this is a marzen but didn’t find any. $1.65 for a 12oz. bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma. fly (1487) - austin, Tejas, Texas, USA - MAY 10, 2004
Bottled. Uncertain of the date - from store not too far away, but turn over looked poor. Kinda freaky for a Marzen, but I liked it. One of those that made me think that either the brewers had a diferenct concept than I do or sowething went awry. Stiil I liked it. Some fruity flavors - between strawberry and cherry. I have more notes, but they’re eluding me for now.

Poured a clear copper with a thin white head. Lightly toasted malt nose. Thin mouthfeel. Biscuits, fruit, and citrus on the tongue. Mild hop finish. An ok beer, nothing to rave about. Quite drinkable, though. MilkmanDan (1942) - Eagan, Minnesota, USA - MAR 29, 2004
Clear copper. Nose malty, slightly tart and fruity. Good malty character. Big toasty malts in flavor, nice and bready, a mite fruity as well. Good stuff. warrior (213) - Mt. Wolf, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 24, 2004
Orange, amber color, nice cream colored head. Malty with a slight citrus aroma. A slight toasted malt flavor that finishes with some bitterness and some hop flavor. I would have liked to have had more toasted malt flavor but not a bad Marzen. frylock (1144) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JAN 22, 2004
Golden orange color with a medium sized white head. Rich malty aroma with hints of green apples. Malty slightly toasted flavor. Moderatley bitter finish. A little different than most marzens, but not bad. happy4hops (376) - Bel Air, Maryland, USA - JAN 3, 2004
When aquired on draft or fresh bottles this one is alright.Bottled on 12-18-03.Sweet caramel/tease of munich.Nice golden color w/ a tad of that almost gel like sediment?Weak head/lace.Nice light tasting beer that is in no way spectacular but enjoyable.Very smooth rounded-out mouthfeel. Some hops in the finish.Has some german characteristics.Very decent when fresh. An old favorite revisited 3 years later.Has a tease of a hefe yeast.Strange for a marzen.
