Nate (4279) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 18, 2003
Had from bottle. Weak aroma, low hops but OK grainy-rye odor. Light caramel amber clear - no head. Low carb and light watery body. Weak, watery flavor. Tart bit of hops and low caramel sweetness. More of an American standard flavor. Not too malty for a Maerzen.

Tried this beer of tap, had a very light golden color with very little foam. Tasted like a regular pale ale. Very smooth tasting with the hint of sweetness.

beautiful amber color, very smooth and a great taste, brewed in my hometown

LoveCaissa (873) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JAN 12, 2003
Pretty golden amber colour but dissappointing head. Average märzen aroma, unfortunately with a kind of unpleasant ’strawish’ touch. Smooth flavour dominated by Munich malts. Lightly bitter and (too) clean finish. Very easy to drink; I guess this would suit a German Oktoberfest well.

Very clean, crisp, and smooth, but it’s also kinda watery and uninteresting. A good session beer, but not anything to go out of your way to try.

Not bad for the average beer drinker but seemed to be lacking something ....

3.3
HighGravity (926) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - NOV 18, 2002
Medium body. Malty, but the beer seems to be a little drier than previous samples. Marzens are so middle of the road.

Cloudy amber. Flowery, a bit yeasty aroma. Weakbodied - a bit more fruit and power would have been nice.

urbnhautebourg (997) - Annapolis, Maryland, USA - OCT 2, 2002
UPDATED: MAR 29, 2003 This one has varied widely for me. Tasted at the brewery, it shows a great billowing head with continual bubbling in the body, excellent candy malt aroma. The mouthfeel is thin, but there is great amber candy malt flavors, though none of the roasted notes found in German Maerzens. The finish is tight, just like Victory's and Dominion's Octoberfest beers. Other samples showed some sourness and DMS.

This beer kinda rocks. Malty and lightly hopped; the perfect balance (or lack thereof) for me. I tried this beer again at an Oriole’s game in Baltimore and it had a full mouthfee, but the flavor just wasn’t there. A bit too sweet for me. I’ve adjusted my score.
