Pours a cloudy light amber color with a fizzy, off-white head that quickly dissipates. No lacing. Aroma is astringent with hints of honey. Initial taste is lightly sweet, taking its time moving to a light bitter finish. Light on the mouth, it has a watery feel with soft carbonation. Reviewed on January 4th, 2007.

I couldn’t find this one on the site. I believe it was only released for a limited time. I only saw it once when I lived in Baltimore. Very sweet amber. Copper pour. Nose and taste is caramel, malts and spruce. Rated 2/19/03

Beer is mostly malt in taste and aroma. It works as a pub ale, but I wouldn’t rush to the store to get it. Rated 3/21/03

12oz bottle (variety pack). Pours a dark golden color with a thin white head that fades to lacing. The aroma is deep with caramel, butter toffee, figs and other fruits. The taste starts sweet and malty with a good caramel background, and ends fairly hoppy. This is a lightly flavored, light bodied beer that has a slightly fruity sweet finish.

Pours a hazy amber with a white creamy head. Smells of toasted malt, caramel, some light spice. Tastes sweet and sticky with some earthiness on the finish.

The draught version is outstanding so I had high expectations for this beer. Pours copper color with little or virtually no head. Can’t figure out why since this is not an old beer. On the palate you’ll find good malt notes with some toffee, butterscotchy, almost malt-extract flavors (I mean that in a good way). Hops are there but you find yourself drawn to the malt. Yep, it’s the malt. Medium to light bodied. It’s a local beer for me, good inexpensive choice for kicking back a few in the early Fall months. Otherwise I would not seek out this beer at all.

Bottle; poured a clear golden amber with frothy white head. Aroma of bread, toffee and caramel; pretty bland aroma. Flavor was similar with some apple/fruit elements. Hops not really present at all. Below average for the style.

12oz bottle. Date unknown, since this seems to not be a real seasonal but rather an all-year style. Nice look poured from the bottle, with a thick and frothy white head sitting on top of a nearly perfectly clear rusty orange body. Nose has some sweaty and sour marshmallow notes (which should be sweet, since marshmallows are only sugar, but that’s what my nose says), light vegetal notes, some oil or other vehicle fluid, and some hand soap. When warmed to proper temperature more apple and carmale show up, redeeming what I thought would be a really, really poor beer. Flavor of fluffy and leafy fuesal caramel malts with some celery and other vegetable notes, but again at a warmer temperature there’s much more apple and caramel. Overall it’s still very basic, and a little too sweet, but it’s drinkable, barely.

Clear, filtered, amber body with a small beige head. The aroma is biscuit, bread, golden raisins and caramel. The flavor is light with vienna, apple, grapes and caramel. Medium/light body is soft, but thin with light carbonation.

12oz bottle. Clear and golden. Sparse clinging off-white head. Bready cereal nose. Toasty aromas. Nice crisp efferbescence. Crisp malts with a sweet touch. Off dry and good for the style. Touch of cocoa. Slightly sticky with a mildly lingering finish.

From a 12 oz. bottle with no freshness date, sampled at cellar temperature in a lager glass. Poured a slightly hazy copperish amber with a foamy, bubbly topped white head, decent retention, settled into a thin creamy lacing. Aromas of apples, toasted malts, caramel and a light toffee, a very subtle spice and floral hops. Good moderate carbonation and a crisp, dry, smooth medium-light bodied mouthfeel. Pleasant tasting, toasted malts, sweet caramel, a spicy breadiness, apple fruitiness that meshes with a light alcohol flavor, earthy, softly bitter hops and a dry yeasty, malty finish. Not the best Marzen I’ve had, but still, very enjoyable, light pleasurable taste.
