Colour and sight: Dark brown-red. A compact white-yellow, stable and lacing head. Scent: Touches of caramel, mocha and chocolate. Spices such as liquorice and coriander are also present. Flavour: Initially, a very good mouthfeel of alcohol and softness. This is followed by an increasing bitterness, partially from the hop, but also from the roasted malt and chocolate malt. Towards the end a nice balance between bitterness, sour and sweet.

750. Murky brown with a pillowy khaki head that leaves decent lacing. Aroma is full of dark stone fruits. Figs, plums, and raisins. Lots of Belgian yeast as well. Taste is fruity with dark stone fruit, lots toffee, and molasses. Heavily carbonated with a semi sweet finish.

Maersk (259) - MOLDOVA - JAN 2, 2017
Deep brown, clear, thick beige head. Aroma of ripe fruit, a bit rotten and metallic when cold and with more caramel after warming up. Lots of carbonation, sightly tart finish and watery body.

Love this beer. Bottle at home, with a Delrium Tremens to follow. A great beer to kick off the evening.

UPDATED: DEC 25, 2016 330ml bottle: Pours a hazy Brown with deep red hues when held to the light. Thin tan head. Aroma of caramel, syrup and molasses. Beautiful caramel and dark chocolate to taste. Very complex beer with loads of flavour. Low bitterness, full bodied with low carbonation. Absolutely fantastic.

Mycket trevlig.

Bottle @ home, cellared 3 years, one year past it’s BB date. Pours a brown liquid with a beige head. Sweet aroma, malty with caramel, fudge, raisins, plums, spices, vanilla, slight licorice and milk chocolate, all in nice balance. Spicy flavor with fudge, caramel, vinous raisins, plums, sweet dates, chocolate, licorice, some red apples. Body is medium, carbonation medium to high. Finish is quite dry with lingering spices, fudge and dried fruits and anise and hints of roasted coffee. Balanced spicy bitterness. Very nice, has aged gracefully.

anstei (2169) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - DEC 2, 2016
Bottle. Pours brown with looooot of foam. Candy sweet and strong. Typical Belgian strong, and well done at that. The booze pushes through, but in a nice way. Good.

jjsint (2993) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - DEC 1, 2016
Bottle from the Devonshire Arms, Cambridge. Very dark brown but significantly far from black. All but opaque. The creamy tan head is quite large initially but dies down quickly. The scent is filled with notes of raisins, blueberries, hot chocolate, cognac and liquorice. There’s also a less welcome vegetal note. Divine sweet taste: chocolatey, yeasty and gloriously boozy. Burnt cinnamon bun with caramelised raisins in the long delectable aftertaste. Not quite the heady heights of Delirium Tremens but lovely in its own right.

AnG_BrgNor (700) - Bergen, NORWAY - NOV 26, 2016
Bottle. Aroma is caramalt, malt and yeasty. Taste is malt, spices, some fruits and caramel. Med to low body and med to high carbonation.
