COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Colour and sight: Dark brown-red. A compact white-yellow, stable and lacing head. Scent: Touches of caramel, mocha and chocolate. Spices such as liquorice and coriander are also present. Flavour: Initially, a very good mouthfeel of alcohol and softness. This is followed by an increasing bitterness, partially from the hop, but also from the roasted malt and chocolate malt. Towards the end a nice balance between bitterness, sour and sweet.

A very good Belgian Strong. Poured with little head and loads of yeasties. Aroma was slightly fruity and sour. Flavor characteristics include licorice, flat coke, and fruit. Everything is up front, nothing lingers too much.

Bottle. Pours brown with looooot of foam. Candy sweet and strong. Typical Belgian strong, and well done at that. The booze pushes through, but in a nice way. Good.

Bottle from the Devonshire Arms, Cambridge. Very dark brown but significantly far from black. All but opaque. The creamy tan head is quite large initially but dies down quickly. The scent is filled with notes of raisins, blueberries, hot chocolate, cognac and liquorice. Theres also a less welcome vegetal note. Divine sweet taste: chocolatey, yeasty and gloriously boozy. Burnt cinnamon bun with caramelised raisins in the long delectable aftertaste. Not quite the heady heights of Delirium Tremens but lovely in its own right.

75 cl. Dark hazy brownish mahogany, fairly beige foam dissipates quickly leaving slight lacings. Aroma is roasted malt, caramel, plums, yeasty spicy note, coffee, chocolate. Taste is roasted malt, dark fruits, raising hoppy and yeasty bitterness and alcohol, soft mouthfeel, dry finish with hints of malt, apcohol and a tiny sour note. Big body, medium to high carbo, soft mouthfeel, do not drink too cold!

1/2 at six degrees north Edinburgh. Pours deep auburn, no head. Smells of dates and port but very muted aroma. Quite thin for the abv. And the taste is a bit thin too. Sweet without much complexity, red fruits, madeira. Nice but a 1/2 was enough, and it just didnt have enough oomph for me.

0,33 l bottle. Pours brown with deep red tone. Head is small, tan and dissipates rather quickly, but leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel with dried fruits, mainly prunes and raisin and alcohol. Flavor is malt, bread, caramel, noble hop notes floral and herbal. Yeast is present, so is alcohol, some light sweetness and roasty notes. Body is quite full, sticky texture and lively carbonation. Finish is roasty bitterness.
