had this last night. dark brown in color, a bit carbonated, no head. aroma was uninteresting, but ok. flavor was of wood and carmelized sugar. there was some yucky flavor on the back end that stuck around, which is the same distasteful flavor that has always stopped me from liking this beer. Poured into a slim glass and the head jumped from the bottom with a thick light brown foam. The beer slowly began to appear showing a clear dark reddish brown. Aroma is not big and is sweet malt with some hop tartness, roasted notes, and a bit of funkiness. Flavor is cherries and raisins, yeast, and funk. A malt backbone and cooked sugar provide sweetness. This beer is complex but not well balanced. Still, a very nice beer for a cold day. cellar (508) - Dublin, IRELAND - APR 3, 2009
reddish brown with nice head. Strong malty and yeasty aroma of caramel, spices and prunes. Flavour is very sweet with a sweet finish. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - APR 14, 2009
Bottle. Surprised I haven’t rated this before. Pours with a hue, hazy off-white head, with a clear brown body underneath. Aroma of candi sugar, alcohol, orange peel, dark fruits and coriander. Taste is metallic with dark fruits, and astringent note, near cloying sweetness and coriander. Light bubbles and a water like mouthfeel. angrypirate06 (1388) - Texas, USA - APR 21, 2009
Bottle. Pours with a one finger beige head over a dark brown body. Nutty aroma, with dark fruits, raisins, caramel and a hint of coffee. Flavor was dark frruits, toffee, and some off flavors.

Pours a deep brown with a decent head that dissipates quickly. Sweet nutty and dark fruit aroma. Taste is a prune and raisin confection in a light/medium mouthfeel and a refreshing carbonation on the tongue. I don’t detect any alcohol, but I’m drinking this at slightly less than cellar temperature. Bottled 14 months ago. Nice. iamqueensblvd (247) - , Iowa, USA - AUG 26, 2009
Dark pour with a frothy nut colored head. no real lace. nutty flavor mixed with a slight metallic flavor and a very apparent alcohol flavor. The palate has a metallic finish with slight alcoholic flavor. f351c4v (411) - Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 2, 2009
On tap @ Bar Louie. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber color with a small head. Pungent sweet raisin aroma, lots of brown sugar and sour fruit in the body; random spiciness throughout. Better than Tremens, but you knew that. dyetube (1378) - Hurst, Texas, USA - OCT 6, 2009
This beer pours a deep amber/brown with a medium tan head with lots of yeast in it. The aroma is dried fruits (raisins) and brown sugar. The flavors are candied sugar, raisins, and dates. This was an ok beer, but there is so much better out there. Cheers Lyncham (251) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 21, 2009
An interesting logo does not make a good beer in Belgium. I had this one on draft. The smell is fruity, and sweet. The hops give it a mildl bitterness. Over all the complexity of the flavors do not stand up to many other Belgiun Strongs.
