2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cork popped on its own after I removed the cage. Poured from bottle into Maudite glass. Head about 1", foamy shaving cream type, and pretty pure white; sinks down to a thinnish but persistent layer. Liquid is dark brown with a little bit of red hue in the light. Aroma has a lot of metal in addition to the expected dark fruit, brown sugar, and candy. Flavor is rich and sweet, with a sharp note of bitterness. Spicy, even. Mouthfeel is extremely light and dry for a beer of this strength. No alcohol detected anywhere. Interesting in some ways, but overall a bit harsh.
Off white bubbly head stayed on a very dark brown, luscious, still body. CraftyHare (127) - Adelaide, AUSTRALIA - DEC 7, 2017
Stewed fruit, caramel, orange & Christmas spices aroma.
Medium bodied, sparkling on the palate, thinning to the back with a prickly finish.
Sweet caramel tastes with over ripe fruit, spices, candied orange, demerara & a long tangy, fruity finish.
Excellent Christmas Ale
330ml bottle pours dark red-brown with thick creamy off-white head. Aromas of caramel malt, molasses, spices and alcohol. Tastes of dried fruit, brown sugar, Belgian yeast, spices and cognac. High carbonation, but thin body has trouble hiding the 10% alc vol. Not as layered as I would expect for a xmas strong ale. Cool label artwork though. Tjeerd (630) - GERMANY - NOV 30, 2017

This one was from our favorite bar- a 2010 version, so pretty aged and poured into a little tulip glass. Appearance is a dark red/brown and a nice smooth palate. The aroma is malty and with a vague holiday vibe to it; the taste has some strong alcohol on top and then some spices and a toasty/bready flavor towards the end. Good for drinks with friends on a Wednesday after officially becoming a Costco person. Shark_Pants (769) - AUSTRALIA - NOV 17, 2017
330ml bottle BB Nov 19. Slightly hazy, deep amber with big off white head. Sweet candi sugar aroma, caramel, strawberries, spicy phenolics. The taste has big strawberry notes, caramel, some grassy and peppery notes. Full bodied, nice prickly carbonation. Nikokaoja (402) - Ljubljana, SLOVENIA - NOV 6, 2017
