Ruddy brownish chestnut colored pour with a sturdy foamed head. Yeasty Belgian maltyness to smell with a souring berry cheweyness and lingering musty funk in between. Berry chocolate flavors with cardboard and a deepened staleness that yields a fruited funk ensemble. Medicinal brandy finishing with a champagne sparkle. Good in close proximity to a fire. A solid brew that packs a potent punch.

Ruddy brown pour with everlasting tan foam. Aroma is malty and semi sweet with some astringent, somewhat sour/metallic notes. Flavor follows very closely. Having just had Rochefort 8 and regularly drinking Chimay Blue, this was a letdown for sure. The pink elephant had done well for me in the past, but not so much with this one. Okay, and drinkable for sure, but expectations were so high.

Bottle. Deep clear red with a very large off white head. Aroma of caramelised bananas, raisins, prunes, mace, aniseed. Full bodied, not terribly syrupy or boozy. Moderate carbonation. Some roasted flavours join the dried and stewed fruit and the finish is drier than expected with moderate bitterness. Licorice and aniseed hang around. Good.

Hazy brown colour, thick beige head with long time lacing. Fruity aroma, like a christmas fruitcake, cherrys, caramel, molasses, cinnamon and malt. Balanced taste between sweet and bitter, very fruity flavor, hints of cinnamon and other spices, caramel, nuts and malt. Medium to full body, slightly astringent sensation on the end, the alcohol taste and sensation is present from the start to the end. Very good, should be available all year long.

Pours a slightly hazy reddish color with a thick fluffy white head. No yeast sediment in the glass at all. Aroma of sugar cookie, caramel, spiced rum, dried dark fruits, candi sugar, and a hint of alcohol. Flavors were similar with lots of candi sugar, spices, cookie/biscuit, warming alcohol and a very slight bitterness. Thick and syrupy mouthfeel, very well carbonated, with a slick and sticky mouthfeel. A great beer. I prefer it to the regular DT.
