Launched on December 26th 1989 @ 9% abv. Abv reduced from 9% to 8.5% in 2003.
The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

Delirium: The attractive design on the bottle is a real eye catcher, especially with the words ‘strong’ and ‘8.5%’ highlighted in red font. If as much effort has gone into the brewing process then we’d be in for a belter. The first sip was different to any beer I’d ever tasted before, it was smooth and was jam packed with flavours. As the tipple hit the pit of my stomach a nice warm feeling evaporated up to my chest, which gave a strange yet enjoyable sensation. I was expecting the taste to get worse with each sip, as so often happens, however I was pleasantly surprised that didn’t happen. This drink is a classic example of why this organisation is running. A beer that I would never have usually chosen, but definitely will again. I’ve tasted nicer beers, but as a complete package (strength v taste) this tipple delivers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Excelente cerveja! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Shari and I both liked this beer. I see why they won best beer award. Slight hint of flops in the nose, has somewhat of a fresh fruity small, Belgium tasting beer, no real after taste. Golden light brown color. We want more of it! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2018

This is my favorite beer, though it should only be drunk on special occasions because the flavor can get old after having it too many times ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2018 Aroma of bread and clove. Medium body and medium to high carbonation. Taste of yeast, pale malts, candied sugar, overripe banana. Sweet and dry after. Slight warmth in the back of the throat as a reminder of the high abv.
