The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2014 Aroma: Lemon/lime, orange peel, caramel apple and some grassyness. Complexity is pretty high and its pretty spicy. Good choice in hopping. Appearance: Cloudy amber with a bright white head. Taste: Quite sweet and malty, with a bit of sour thrown in. A bit of astringency/metallic notes but they add good character. A good hop presence too. Palate: Quite fizzy, bit of an odd aftertaste. Overall: Interesting beer, its like smashing a hefe and a tripel together honestly. Delirium Tremens is quite alright but not one that deserves the title of "best in the world".

330ml bottle from Melbourne Street Cellars pours slightly cloudy pale tangerine with large foamy off-white head and a little sediment. Aromas of mandarin, citrus hops, yeast and floral characters. Tastes of apricot, mandarin, lemon, yeast, wheat and spices. The 8.5% alc vol is well hidden among the sweetness and carbonation. Unique opaque beige bottle with blue foil and oriental-style label artwork. A well balanced, refined and refreshing Belgium strong ale.

Rich, buttery tones prevail. The high alcohol is a perfect balance to the concentrated flavors of apricots and yeast. One of the finest Belgian ales that you can find for sale.

Clear gold with a big white head. Floral aroma. Taste is sweet with notes of vanilla and lemon and a significant spicy yeast presence. It has a full, creamy mouthfeel.

Huge frothy white head very long lasting. Hazy dark gold. Rich aroma, spicy, caramel, prune, Belgian yeast and honey hints. Taste is dry, crispy, spicy (clove), ripe banana and malty. Crispy palate. High carbonation. It seems a tripel more than a Belgian strong ale.

This is the first beer Ive ever rated with a Rate Beer community member, seems like a lot of you guys are lawyers. Who knew. From notes. Ceramic bottle to shaker glass, pours light gold. Monster head that disappeared really quick. It retains well but no lace, typical of the Belgian style. Aroma of yeast, grass and more yeast. It tastes slightly sour. Light bodied, fizzy carbonation. I can only describe its mouth feel as, well, tart. Finishes fairly clean and dry. At 14 bucks a bottle this stuff is the most expensive and over rated beer Ive ever had. Im glad I didnt pay for it.
