The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

Nice pale pour, light floral aroma meets strong hard cheese and apple. This is a crisp, carbonated bottle conditioned beer with a tall white head that with small/medium bubbles, not creamy but not sparse. Taste mirrors the aroma with hard cheese and light citrus, no hops, plenty of tasty yeast and apple.

Gold color with white head. Fruity, some yeast, tipical belgian beer. Well made.

Clear golden beer with huge luxury white head that stays for long as a big froth hill. Picturesque appearance for sure. Classical spicy yeast aroma. Pear. Lollipop. Medium body. Sweetish malty taste works well with rich yeast spiciness. No real alcohol feel. Still quite boozy. Light grassy bitterness. No surprises. Just good as it is.

So it does have an attractive bottle. Unique. I pour into a Trappist glass delivering an opaque yellow body and a persistent white head. I catch some yeastiness and a light floral scent. The taste is sweet fruit and spice. Not as memorable as some but better than most. Tough competition when you are talking Belgians.

Frudel (126) - Montral, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 19, 2017
Bottle 330ml. The bottle offers a golden clear liquid with a quite vigorous white head, leaving some lacing. Nose is belgian yeast, orange, apricot and spices. Heavy sparkling of sharp bubbles on the tongue, leaves a great alcohol warmness going down the throat. Taste is spicy, heavy belgian yeast ester, malt and hops well balanced together. Great Belgian Strong Beer.

Aroma - perfectly belgian, malt, flowers, some green herbs and fermented fruits, honey with raisins, belgian yeasts. Taste - predominantly belgian yeast, green herbs/hops bitterness, malt, some fermented fruits and honey, with a well carbonized body. Well done and balanced.

330ml bottle, BB Aug 2019. Clear golden amber with voluminous rocky white head. Sweet candi sugar aroma with spices and some apricot and pear fruitiness. The taste has a sweet candi maltiness with pear fruitiness, balanced by a spicy and herbal hop bitterness, but the star of this beer really is the spicy and mildly funky yeast character. Quite full bodied but balanced by a lively carbonation. Definitely a Belgian classic for good reason.

Bottle as gift. Pours clear, yellow-gold with a seriously fluffy white head. Aromas of candy floss, pepper, oats and warm cloves. Palate is light with a soft edge initially. This gives way to sharp bubbles and a dry crispness which leaves the mouth tingling. It has an almost sickly-sweet malt base which is almost completely engulfed with balancing bitter hops. There is soft banana in the flavours also. The counteracting bittering hop gives a nice warm spicy dry body over the smooth malt. The body produces a heft which is complex and very enjoyable.

.33l bottle at Den Bosch nice bottle, original.. Sweet, fresh citrus aroma. Thick soapy white head. Clear golden beer, high carbonation bitter hop taste, slightly sweet malt taste. Nothing special, would not drink again.

Bottle. Pale gold in colour. Clear (expected hazy). Fruity (some citrus, banana). Very Spicy and Very yeasty in taste (but no sediment on pour). Malty (sweet malts). Lively carbonation. Sweet fruity spicy and yeasty over a malt base. Perhaps, too sweet? Dry finish. (2008)
