Draft at the brewery, served in a flight. Pours a dark brown color with amber edges and a small beige head that settles into a ring. Notes of roasted malts, tobacco, burnt sugar, cocoa, and caramel. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, slightly roasty mouthfeel. Smells good. Looks good. But it falls a bit flat once you drink it. Draft at the brewpub. Pours clear brown with a creamy khaki head. Mellow dark malts in the nose, toast, faint roast. Light sweet flavor with bitter char, burnt grass, cocoa, earth. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with ashy roast, more bitter earth, grass, baking cocoa. So so. mR_fr0g (12923) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 3, 2016
Draft at the brewpub. Clear mahogany brown coloured pour with a fading reluctant head. Aroma is dark malts, ashy, raisin, harsh bitter. Flavour is composed of dark malts, burnt toast, slightly ashy, harsh bitter. Palate is semi sweet. Drying, moderate carbonation. OK Homer321 (5143) - Melboring, Florida, USA - FEB 3, 2016
Draft at source. Nose is dark fudge with coffee and roasted grain overtones. Light black to deep brown with ruby highlights. Taste is similar to bad homebrew that kind of reminds me of a yeasty flaw I can’t quite pick out. Like autolysis or something going on. Weird. Draft - Nice roasty notes and some chocolate. Jet black with a decent beige head. Roasty and toasty notes. Solid, but nothing special.

Draught at Dempsey’s. Opaque black liquid with small to medium tan head. Aroma of coffee, ash, citrus, grain and toast. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of coffee, toast and earth. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Decent. Bit harsh bitterness. DarenGH (1) - California, USA - MAR 29, 2015 does not count
Alhohol should not be made to sniff, swirl or spat. If I had to rank a scent to the beer, it smells just fine. Looks dark like a stout or porter. Taste is similar to Rasputin but slightly milder. It’s a good winter time brew or to be paired with their beef tacos. The grease/seasoning in the beef tacos pairs nicely with this beer and worth checking out. It’s certainly worth checking out if you like Rasputin or the Icelandic Smoked Porter. monk191 (2023) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 2, 2014
An ok stout. Nothing special. Pours a very nice deep black with a tan head. Smells of vanilla and cinnamon, and a bit of malt. Taste is lacking, a little thin for a stout. Paired with Peanut Butter M&Ms in vanilla ice cream, smooths it out to he point of having no taste. Had in the bottle. Bule (2228) - California, USA - MAY 29, 2014
On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark black color without much head. Roasted malt aroma and flavor. Mild hops. Burnt.

On tap @ Dempsey’s. Almost black pour with a tan head. Roasted malt, oatmeal cookies, chocolate, vanilla, and coffee on the nose. Some ash, licorice, and a touch of dark fruit. Nice sweetness of cookie dough and vanilla. Some dark chocolate, mild fruits as well. Licorice, roast, and a nice coffee note. Pretty decent.
