Bottle, bought @ De Hopduvel, Gent.
Pours lovely clear golden with a large, creamy, white head. Good duration. Aroma has clear curry notes, light chili burn, mild citrus, light mustard seeds. Very spicy. Medium carbonation, quite dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has clear chili burn, curry, light sweet maltiness, citrussy zest. Lingering spicy, herbal and chili burning finish.

Pours an off-white head that retains its fortitude. Clear golden Tripel, thick lacing around the edges. Overwhelming taste of walnuts in the first few sips, which, combined with the mildly present alcohol makes for a negative first acquaintance. After that, however, this brew morphs into a very spicy and solid Tripel, very complex, with all different kinds of tastes sliding their way back and forth across the palate. Coriander, dark malts, faint hint of bourbon, walnut and citrus fruit, as well as some flowery hops. All in all, the first few sips are a bit grizzly, but reaching the middle of the glass makes me want to order another pint of Den Ijzeren Arm, which is quite ironic the twist and for me confirms this brew's quality.

At Bruges Beer Fest 2017. Pours hazy yellow with a small creamy white head. The aroma contains hops, herbs, spices, yeast, fruit peel and walnut. It tastes medium bitter. Finish is long and dry. A very spicy Tripel.

33cl bottle in Comptoir des Arts (Brugge) late Nov 2016. Mini haze to the golden body, white head. Heavy herbal/spiced beer that has a semi-sweet malty base, a mixed up beer all round really, wanted to get into it, but couldn’t find a clear smell or flavour to build my enjoyment around. A strange one and difficult to pontificate about (and score).

12/03/2016 @home - 33cl bottle from brewer @BAB. Orange colour with sticky creame head. Nose is grains, heavy spiced, herbal. Taste is a lot of spices, grains, thin fruitiness, light bitter ending. Weird but very enjoyable however.

Alengrin (5710) - BELGIUM - FEB 10, 2016
Spiced tripel made from four grains, tasted at Brugs Beertje. Thick, creamy, dense, egg-white head, cloudy peach blonde colour. Aroma of biscuit, dried orange peel, Conférence pear, nutmeg, chicken stock, musterd seed indeed but I do not get much of the fenugreek, white pepper; soft sweetish onset, pear, green banana, softish carbo, smooth light bready malt middle, notably grainy and a bit soapy thanks to the other grains, dryish ending, bit bitterish with strong retronasal spiciness of mace, musterd and, I suppose, the fenugreek. Overly spiced and I’m not too fond of four grain beers either, all these components seem to get a bit lost among each other.

Een redelijk zwaar biertje, de kruidige aroma van het mosterzaad is sterk bij het proeven. Al bij al een bijzondere trippel.
