Draft. Clear brown color, tan head. Aroma of lightly smoky caramel. Taste is singed toast. Light body. slowrunner77 (12044) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 5, 2014
"courtesy of bluesandbarbq - nice looking cloudy ruby brown ale. smoke in the aroma with some fruity maltiness. smooth body as well, but the flavor was a bit of a hybrid of styles, although i’d guess unintentionally. the fruitiness from the malt was cool, but there was the (sometimes present in scottish ales) lemony astringency that took away from the flavor of the peet and smoke. the aftertaste was both scottish ale and a weak attempt at a sour. possibly oxidized?? i’ve had occasional bottles of Sacsquatch & Kilt Lifter’s that had a similar aspect as well-but never on tap."

bottle. clear amber/brown with no head. lots of nutty caramel aromas. pleasant maltiness with a light body. flavorful and sessionable. hints of that signature earthy smokiness in this 80+ schilling. one the better beers from depot street. nearbeer (5419) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - DEC 1, 2011
12 0z. Chocolate with some red tints and a ring of bubbles. Nose is chocolate, caramel and earthy char. Flavor is sourish chocolate, earthy leaf, char and light cherry. Medium body is tingly, lightly carbonated and well-balanced for the style.

... and i was going to buy that ivory back scratcher .. thanks for the bottle Mr Lou K .. . Pours a dark prune, low foam .. . as i poured noticed quite a lot of sediment, so i just through back the last 1-2 inches of liquid .. . light cola, sweet malts, molasses, and dimoxinil .. . delicious playful sweetness with a slight brown tartness, good stuff.. . why don’t you just call the pharmacy?? chriso (7533) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 16, 2011

On tap (I think) at the Preservation Pub (I think - notes a bit of a mess), Knoxville on 9 July 2006. Have to say this didn’t make too much of an impression on me. Unsurprisingly, sweet fruity malt and caramel dominate. Mouthfeel is mellow, tending towards soft, and quite thin. Not much hop in evidence. OK but unremarkable. Not a style I’m too keen on anyway.

12oz bottle, Deep brown pour with a red hue. Big white head that goes away as quick as it appeared. Little to nothing on the nose, but something that seems to be a bit off. After my first sip all I get is fizz and carbonation, way too much for me. There is little on the tongue, but it seems to finish with some candy fruit malts. Nothing seems quite right about this brew... Skyview (6055) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - JUL 2, 2010
Received 12-oz bottle from family friend who visited Tennessee. Pours a clear light brownish amber colored brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that dissipates nearly clean. Aroma of both caramel and golden grain malt, a hint of floral hops and a touch of smoke. Taste is light to medium bodied, very little carbonation with flavors of tart fruit, caramel malt and very little hop presence. Finish is slightly tart with a mild smoke and caramel malt aftertaste. crajun (1243) - , Texas, USA - JUN 28, 2010
bottle thanks to suttree; at first pour and nano secon of first taste I had high hopes but this was undrinkable. I have had cokes that didn’t have half this fizz; it wasn’t jus the over carbonation; it was super powered fizz enated. drain pour
