Deschutes Brewery's summer bond Street Series offers yet another refreshing, hot weather quencher to complement Twilight Ale. This unique Belgian-style wheat beer was brewed with zested Curacao orange peel and just enough spices to keep your taste buds guessing. Our brewers tinkered with the recipe for months at the Public House in Bend, Oregon, before perfecting what will arrive on shelves in 22-ounce bottles this June. One prototype of the Wit was sampled at Portland's Spring Beer and Wine Festival in March, where it earned a gold medal.

Draft at the brewery: golden colored. Aroma is lightly spiced, orange, grass, lightly sour and tart. Quite drinkable. Decent but forgettable.

22 ounce bottle purchased from the Davis Food Co-Op. Bubblegum and cotton candy are present in the nose with a mild banana estery aroma. There are also some obvious wheat characteristics in the nose. moderately hazy golden body with a relatively quickly dissipating, medium white head. Citrus lemon flavor present to start. Becomes a little more yeast-like with some banana flavors towards the middle. Has some milky, malty, grainy flavors in the middle. A bit chewy. Finishes with a nice, spriziness and more lemon-citrus metallic flavors. Pretty easy drinking stuff. Solid.

Looks great in the glass - slightly hazy, light straw body with a huge eggshell white head. Upfront taste is a mild mixture of orange peel and corriander with a bit of small yeasty banana notes. Light wheat malt on he finish along with a big banana, almost Banana Bread, component. Awfully thin body. I love to say Curacao ; +1 on Overall Impression!

Bottle: Pours a golden yellow hue with nice white head and some long lasting lacing. The nose is pronounced with some light wheat and pilsner malts, a touch of yeast esters and a bit of coriander. Not much hops or spice otherwise. The flavor is clean, mellow mouthfeel and a thin body. Its a decent witbier, with all the usuals packed in, but its just not that exciting.

X Tap at Bend Brewpub on Bond Street--Hazy straw-white soapy body. Nose of banana-clove. Mild sourness. Fruity, dry, clean, fresh flavor. Yum!
