COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deschutes Brewery's summer bond Street Series offers yet another refreshing, hot weather quencher to complement Twilight Ale. This unique Belgian-style wheat beer was brewed with zested Curacao orange peel and just enough spices to keep your taste buds guessing. Our brewers tinkered with the recipe for months at the Public House in Bend, Oregon, before perfecting what will arrive on shelves in 22-ounce bottles this June. One prototype of the Wit was sampled at Portland's Spring Beer and Wine Festival in March, where it earned a gold medal.

Cloudy bright golden color. Aroma is a bit faint, some spice and wheat and yeast. Taste is light with some spice and yeast with some citrus and grainyness.

Bottle. Pours a clear bubbly gold with a small white head. Aroma of spices, malt, wheat, lemon. Taste is crisp, lots of lemon, wheat, and spices. Lingering crisp spiciness. Great carbonation. Pretty nice.

Crisp, clean and very light with a large cloudy white head Rounded yeast aromas followed up by citrus as expected. Sweet and crisp. Citrus and banana on the tongue with a sweet pulpiness. Bready cereal flavours stake their claim on the taste buds also. Crisp and smooth with a slight tongue tingle. A good wheat beer. Sweet, crisp and clear. Highly refreshing.

It was nice of deschutes to offer two new beers for their 20th anniversary this summer. Ive had the XX so now Im drinking the wit. Ill start by saying that while this is not a clear yellow like a pilsner it doesnt seem nearly as cloudy as what I have encountered with other examples of the style. It smells really yeasty and the flavor is more yeast, hints of spice and pepper and pretty refreshing. Overall, easy to drink but there are better wits. A decent witbier, but not up to par with this brewery’s reputation. Aroma was very weak. Lemony with a hint of orange. Pour was a decent light gold with a 1 finger white head. Taste was nice but plain. A hint of citrus with some light sticky malt in the aftertaste. Nice carbonation carries the flavors and brings out a hint of corriander.

22 oz. bottle courtesy of golubj. Clear, light yellow color. Thin, bubbly white head. Slightly floral aroma with hints of pepper. Grassy flavor with subtle citrus zest. Dry, clean finish. Nice beer.

Bottled. A decent wit but I imagine this is better when it is fresh. I think I let this sit in my cellar a little too long. It was still good, but I bet it was better a few months ago. All the normal attributes of a good wit but they all seemed a bit muted from sitting.

Pours my favorite light straw with a hint of orange and a frothy white head. Mellow aroma of lightly oxidized hops (bottle isnt that old?), lightly sweet wheat, vague banana esters, hint of orange peel and lemon. Pretty simple beer with delicate flavors, Im not sure why its oxidized so much... but I bet this was pretty awesome fresh. Some sweet candied wheat and some gritty unmalted wheat, love that hint of sourness, orange peel and lemon zest. Long coriander finish. Medium body with smooth glassy but crisp carbonation, slightly gritty. A decent understated wit that I wish was fresh.
