On tap @ Deschutes Portland. Told that this is Inversion, just with a pilsner malt base instead. The hop profile is indeed just like Inversion - assertive, piney, fresh, dominant. I’ve really enjoyed their Chainbreaker so I can get great hop flavor in a lighter package, and this is similar in that regard.
Sample given to us at a Deshutes tasting at Summit Saloon in Bend,Or. then opted for a pint as they had it as a guest tap from Portland. Pours a orangy clear Pilsner style but with a really great hop aroma. We were immediately impressed with the citrus hop essence and went to buy a full pint. We are 23 year Deschutes veterans and this was one of the most exciting new brews we have tried. Hope it is available locally soon. zizzybalubba (1862) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - MAY 6, 2012
On tap at the Deschutes Brewery & Public House in downtown Portland, OR. The beer I had was listed as Angler IPA 2.0 so I can only assume there have been some tweaks made to the original Angler. Pale yellowish-orange pour with a fluffy white head. Grassy and piney hops greet the nose from 3 feet away. Really nice hop flavor of pine needles and fresh cut grass with a light malty profile that provides a nice balance. Finishes clean and not too heavy but lets you know of its hop assertiveness. Very nicely done. douglas88 (9058) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAR 27, 2012
On tap at the Portland brewery. I had a sampler and then a full pint of this: nice brew! Pours a cloudy bright orange color with a large white head. A sweet huge fruity nose, lemon and oranges. A mellow flavor dominated by fruity hops, citrus, light bitterness, lots of fresh hoppy smooth goodness.
